Description

This PC is primarily used for gaming and some work from home. In all the build was a great learning experience and a TON of fun to actually build. Have to give big thanks to Bitwit Kyle for his build guides otherwise I probably would have struggled WAY more. I think the end result is great and really finishes off the room. Love my setup now.

**Started streaming with this pc and it runs it great!

Twitch.tv/ff3J

i5 8600k: Perfect CPU for gaming for me since I don't need the hyper-threading from the i7.

Kraken x62: Wanted an AIO since the new series runs warm and so I can experiment with overclocking

Arctic Silver: Great reviews but haven't needed it yet since Kraken has it pre-applied the first time

Asus ROG Strix Z370-F: Love the aesthetic and had all the features I needed. Almost went with the E but really don't need the wifi built in and that was the main draw of it.

Corsair Dominator Platinum: Only needed 16gb and wanted it to be fast so 3200 was perfect. Might have overpayed a little bit but absolutely love the look of the platinum in my build, I think it was perfect for my aesthetic.

Samsung 860 Evo: How can you go wrong with this as the SSD?

Seagate 2TB Hybrid: Perfect for game and music storage while still being faster than standard HDD

EVGA GTX 1080 FTW2: My dream graphics card will run everything I could ever want to play at the perfect settings I want.

NZXT S340 Elite: By far my favorite case, was super easy to build in and looks great.

EVGA SuperNova 750 G3: Perfect for my build and should continue to be perfect for any upgrades

Hue+ / AER RGB: Really wanted the lighting for my case to help complete the aesthetic of the room. Be aware this kit does NOT come with the LED strips.

Alienware 25 inch Gaming Monitor: Actually an insane deal for a 240hz monitor at the time, great for competitive titles which I play a lot. May look into fast refresh rate 1440p in the future when prices drop to take full advantage of the 1080 but this is fine for now.

Mouse: Logitech G403 Prodigy Wireless/Wired

Keyboard: Logitech G Pro

Headset: Logitech G433

Mousepad: Logitech G640

(yeah kind of a logitech fanboy lol)

Desk: IKEA Malm

Yowza. This is amazing. Good job, hopefully you didn't accidentally make the motherboard fly out of the case trying to refit it.......(I totally didn't end up doing this)

Thanks man and that sounds rough! haha Only thing I had an issue with was screwed up my front panel connectors and spent about 2 hours testing the power-supply and everything to figure out why it wasn't turning on before I realized it was just the power button lmao

the build im planning is pretty much identical to this (except for the cpu and gpu) i also have the malm desk, except with the slide out panel. I am planning on taking off the slide out panel and picking up a linnmon/adils table to put next to it to make an L shape. +1 sick setup and pc.

Why do you need 2 hue pluses?

  • 1 point

That was a whole cluster F honestly lol. The AER. Rgb fan kit doesn’t come with strips or the proper Channel connector cable you need to attach the strips. The only way to get those extra cables was to just buy a standard hue+ kit which I also didn’t realize came with 4 strips instead of 2 so I just said screw it and put the second one in the build and threw the extra 2 LED strips on the bottom of the case for some underglow affect lol

I have a hue plus could I hook up fans with leds on one unit?

  • 1 point

If you bought the standard by+ kit FIRST with the 4 strips then YES because you will have an extra channel cable. If you buy the kit with the hue and the fans then no because it only comes with 1 channel cable. But yes you can run 4 led strips on 1 channel and I think up to 4 or 5 AER RGB fans on the second channel.

I have the first unit with the 4 led strips

Should be all set to go then all you need is the 1 extra channel connector plug that into channel 2 on the hue+ and then the first fan and any other fans just daisy chain off that first fan

also, did you have trouble mounting the 280mm radiator with the blockage from the cables coming from the top usb ports and i/o button?

  • 1 point

No it fit perfectly, but ONLY will fit in the exact configuration I have it you can not put it right up against the front of the case and have the fans only on the inside because as you mentioned the front IO will block the radiator. But as long as you mount it the standard way with fans between rad and case there are no issues at all.

Is this build good for gaming and streaming ?

  • 2 points

haven't done a ton of streaming with it but yeah it should be good. If you want the best for streaming the only change i would make to my build is to pay the extra for the 8700k so you can use the hyperthreading for streaming and gaming all on one pc. But if you don't wanna pay that extra then yes this pc should be able to Stream and game fine all you want just maybe not the best frames.

Hey, i'd love to see more pictures of your pc, it's built very well. Also, how long did the pc build take start to finish?

  • 1 point

Sure man I could upload some more, anything specific on it you wanted to see? Also, being my first ever build and with the help of Bitwit Kyle's build guides on youtube I was able to get it done in about 3 and 1/2 hours.

I mean if it's not a hassle i'd love to see more up front pics with the side panel off and maybe the back side with out the panel.... If it's a hassle don't worry about it, It's just that I am building a pc and have the majority of the exact parts, and wanted to see how well u got everything put together.

Where’d you find that desk?

Its the MALM Desk from IKEA. you can get it like mine with the drawers or theres another style with a slide out L shape as well. Both work incredibly well as gaming pc desks. Not too expensive either.
