Description

Gaming/Work/A E S T H E T I C PC, after my dear Agro fell victim to a nasty short. I wanted a solid midrange, 10-year build. One day I went crazy with the case mods, a totally unnecessary expense - these parts would serve as a wonderful machine for about $200 less than my final price. Mid-build I got a great deal on a gently used 1080, so I swapped out the 1070 seen in the older photos.

Really solid and forgiving build for a PC amateur like me. The one thing I’m not crazy about is the Trident Z sticks, these are notorious for not playing well with Asus Aura and they don’t color cycle correctly.

Nice build!! What temps does your CPU run with the air-cooler? I'm planning on upgrading to your CPU and currently I'm running a Noctua - NH-D9L as my cooler so was wondering if it would suffice.

The D9L should have absolutely no trouble with the 8700.

Thanks, appreciate it. I'm running the D9L on my Gen 8 i3 and it never exceeds 52 and its at 32 at idle.

I was wondering if the D9L would work for the new CPU or if I'd have to go water cooling. I've never done water cooling before and read some are not much better than a good air cooler.

I just ran the Stormblood benchmark at max settings and got high 50s, with a burst to mid 60s at the end. I think the Noctua will be more than enough!

Awesome, thanks for letting me know. I'm currently running a Gen 8 i3 CPU and it never goes over 52 under load gaming. Idle it is at 32.

That sounds great. Now I’m wondering if I should upgrade. Is high 60s under load going to impact longevity?

I don't believe so. I think as long as any CPU/GPU is under 80 you're fine and you never want to go into 90's.

Awesome. I looked into it a bit myself, and it’s just like you said. I’m relieved!

I just found this online regaring CPU temp ranges:

Intel CPU Temps - Kaby Lake Idle Temp Normal Temp Max Temp

Core i3-7350K* 25 to 33°C 45 to 60°C 100°C

Core i5-7600K* 25 to 35°C 45 to 65°C 100°C

Core i7-7700K* 25 to 35°C 50 to 70°C 100°C

I think the most important question here is... Where did you get that aesthetically pleasing bust?

eBay for like 2 bucks! took forever to ship from China, but it was worth it.

thank you! It’s non K and I run it pretty stable, so water cooling seemed like overkill. thankfully the radiator blends in better with the white interior and the LEDs than it would in a black-themed build.
