Description

Hi! This is my first build. I've been wanting to build a PC ever since my grandpa first introduced me to the PC world. I'm going to just keep this short and simple :) . The HDD and PSU is from an older PC. The i7, Sabertooth, RAM, and H50 are all spare parts that my grandpa has generously given to me. One issue is that I cannot use my PC at all XD. There is an issue with the PSU. When I start up, the Saber activates "Anti-Surge". This is most likely the PSU as my grandpa said, so I'm going to get a new one. Plus, the current one doesn't have two six pin PCI-E cords. Over all, I'm very happy with the parts. Although the 460 is a BIT old, I'm going to primary play CS:GO and maybe some F2P games on Steam. Leave your thoughts and happy building!

Nice build, I would recommend a Corsair Rmx 550 as a replacement psu and a 1060 or 480 replacement gpu

Nice job. One little tip though. The memory chips should match the same color to get the benefits of dual channel. Sabertooth's are meant to take a beating so you the PSU must be really bad.

what do you mean by matching color?

He means the same color slots. You put one in the grey slot and one in the black slot, but I think usually you should put them both in the 2 black slots to maximize performance.

It is your PSU, but you really need to upgrade that GPU.

As I said, I'm going to play primarily low requirement games like CS:GO and some steam free to play games. I will most likely upgrade this Christmas :) So this GPU is perfect for my needs.

so you're able to use the 460 without the two six pins connected?

No. I've been told that the GPU will only work with BOTH six pins. Because I have already tested this with one it will not display out :/ Even though the 460 turns on.

Mmm I can smell a not so good PSU that should be replaced ASAP

Gr8 build! How's the 460 performing?

NEVER get a switching power supply....

Yeah, I think I learned from this now XD. I only didn't get a new one because I figured this PSU would be nice to use as its 550w and fully modular. I have heard that Ultra power supplies are notorious for being poor quality.
