Description

Name Reason: I ordered all these parts at least a week prior before all these new cards and price drops started popping up. So, here we are.

HISTORY: Alright, flash back to 2010, and I had a trashy Asus laptop that could record and play minecraft at a steady 40-60 frames at med-high settings. That was my first YT channel that ended up being deleted.

Flash to 2014, BOOM, I managed to snag a MSI GE40 for $600 off of Craigslist. Runs great and performs well for about 1 1/2 years before it meets it's age and starts slowing down. I can't even run Minecraft on it with some background music without lagging and constant audio chips. (To measure, my friends emachine is a god compared to this.)

2016 rolls around and with some heavy thinking, I finally decide to start saving up for a new PC. I went through tons of topics and whatnot and finally got a build, only to realize I forgot to also order a monitor and Windows key. Excitement got to me. But, it arrived, only for all the parts to work, but a faulty hard drive that won't format.

END

Well that's the end of that.

USES: I primarily use this machine for gaming ATM. But once I get a new HDD, I'll be recording, editing, and uploading videos to my YT channel (shameless self plugging ik.) It runs GTAV at a somewhat low resolution at a steady 60FPS. I'm using a TV as a monitor.

What Went Well: Everything went along nicely until that blasted HDD didn't work. Cable management is trash. But it keeps the PC running.

Problems: I've been talking about the HDD for the past 3 paragraphs. I think you can guess.

Part Reviews

CPU

Great Processor. Runs GTAV fine. Kind of a place holder for an i7 though. Haven't used it a ton.

Motherboard

It's a great motherboard. Just wish it had more SATA cables. I have to stick with 2 drives.

Memory

Pretty, 16GB, Meets "H" series clock speed standards, low-profile. Meets my requirements.

Storage

Loads up Windows in seconds. Great SSD. Would recommend for budget builds.

Storage

I have my reasons. They're in the desc.

Video Card

Beast GPU. But like the CPU, ended up being a place holder as I'll most likely upgrade it soon enough. Still runs great though.

Case

Looks nice. I like the little leg stands. There is room for cable management, I just couldn't find them all. That Matte black attracts fingerprints really easily though -1 star for that.

Power Supply

Connects everything. Little low wattage though. Fault on my part. Shoulda went for 650W. But, it'll be getting replaced with one hopefully by christmas.

Your sata express ports can be used as 2 sata ports btw. So you aren't limited to 2 drives

Very nice build for your budget. Quality material and wise choice of power supply. As a builder, I do recommend starting off with budget friendly units though. With the S340, the only cabling problem you'd have is a mustard color 24pin and 8pin if you were to opt for non modular units. As for the 380, this card is a complete 1080p monster.

By the way, the S340 is a beautiful case but be careful with the acrylic window. It scratches extremely easy while using any material to wipe or dust it. I use compressed air to dust it and it works fine. Just another small tip, I use microfiber clothes from dollar tree to wipe off the finger prints xD....

Pc is great. Your probably running games at around 50-60fps. Tho the only reason I clicked on this is the name. Its awesom. I love it. 10/10. Would rate again.

Dude, your last pic shows a cool setup (and a bad camera). Congrats and sorry for your HDD. I like seagate better myself.

I kept getting people sending me links on how bad Seagate drives were or else I would have bought a 2TB Seagate Barracuda HDD.

Nah man, I got 2 seagate drives and they work great 5 years (or more) later.

Oh. Well once I get some money, I'll order myself a 2TB Seagate drive.

Why no rx 480? :D

I was waiting for you.

My reason for not getting the RX 480 is I ordered these parts during May, before the RX 480 was officially announced. I also didn't want to wait very long for the parts to arrive so I only got the R9 380. However, as time goes on, I plan on upgrading to the RX 480, and when announced and released, the RX 490.
