Description

I built this system many moons ago and I am really only just now posting it because yk better late than never or something. All the parts in the system excluding the fans , GPU , and PSU are just moved over from my previous system.

There are three reasons for this build which are:

  1. I was kinda meh about the temps in my previous case (a Rajintek Metis for those curious)

  2. My friend sold me his old GTX 980 and I would not have been able to fit that in my previous case

  3. I just wanted to build another PC

Overall this build was the easiest I have done simply because the Evolv from Phanteks is such a pleasure to build in that it took me maybe a good 4ish hours to build. I did as some have probably noticed put like 0 effort into my cable management but with the Evolv I am able to get away with that so I am just gonna pretend I did an immaculate job back there.

This PC is honestly overkill for me though as really I do not do as much gaming as I would like to these days. Yeah whenever I do crank up The Witcher 3 or something I can max it out but most of the time the games I play are small indie titles or remasters of old ps1 games that the 980 just laughs it off. I guess that is fine however as I will not be feeling the need to upgrade anytime soon unless something so amazing comes over the horizon that I just need to throw my money at it but well that is pretty unlikely.

Also as a side note the leds on the fans are whiter than the pictures would like you to believe.

3 builds later and I think I got something that I am real happy with and will keep the PC build urge away.

Part Reviews

CPU Cooler

Good for builds that are only gonna allow room for small CPU coolers as this is pretty much slightly bigger than a stock Intel heatsink. It performs good enough and has a nice looking fan but for the money you can get better if space is not an issue.

Motherboard

Been using this board since my 1st build 3ish years ago. I like this board so much that when it came time to build a PC for my sister I decided to use it in her build as well. The board has good IO and a good layout (for me at least) and has not crapped out on me yet. I also like the blue accents but that is just imo. The only reason I knock a star off is because installing the wifi module on this thing is so annoying.

Case

I love love love this case. It looks great , has a good internal layout , the removable bracket up top is so convenient , plenty of space behind the back panel , and if I ever decide to try some watercooling I hear this case is great for that.

Case Fan

Good looking and performing fan.

Case Fan

Nice looking fans with a subtle glow to them. They perform well and remain quiet with 4 of em running at 1000rpm , not dead quiet as I can hear them when the room is quiet but quiet enough not to bother me.

Monitor

An alright monitor with 2 HDMI ports and an audio pass through which makes it great for if you have a console hooked up to it like I do as you can share you speakers across a pc and a ps4 like I am doing. The image quality is fine , nothing that has caused bleeding from the eyes to occur.

Speakers

Good for those who just need speakers for when you either need a quick break from your headphones or you need to show your good friend Billy that crazy new video about cats or something.

That is an interesting cpu choice

I had bought this cpu well before skylake was released as I've had that chip for give or take 2/3 years. I don't need an unlocked processor as I'm a pretty light user these days.

Very cool build. How much did you pay fro the 980 by the way?

azianbubbletea submitter 4 Builds 2 points 35 months ago

I paid $400 for the card

Nice

Have to admit, the AR06 seems a little out of place. Should have just stuck with the brand and gotten this. Either way, build looks good, +1

Yeah I see why it would bother some people and it did bother me for a good bit but idk it's actually kinda grown on me. I just like the random bit color it gives.

I'm using it myself, it's a pretty good cooler, especially for the price. But to each his own.

AND pascal was right around the corner :(

azianbubbletea submitter 4 Builds 3 points 35 months ago

Well I built this PC sometime last year when Pascal was just on the rumor mill. Also the 5400 rpm HDD is honestly just because I had it on hand.
