Description

Gaming pc.

Got a few decent black friday discounts, as well as a €45,- cashback on the asus RX 5700 XT Strix. Bought it for 455, which was already a very decent price (around the same price as the Saphire Pulse and Gigabyte Gaming OC models).

The built went very smoothly. I did not have any problems whatsoever. Only anoying thing was the installation of the cooler, becouse the screws are very close to the cooler.

Part Reviews

CPU

Very good processor for the price. I got it for €169 on black friday, which is an excellent deal.

My cpu does 4.2 Ghz all core. I got one of the two ccx's i this cpu to run 4.3 ghz, but the second just won't go past 4.2 Ghz. So i run 3 cores on 4.3 and the other 3 cores on 4.2. I got my f-clock to run at 1867 Mhz, so I can run 3733 Mhz memory, which is a great performance boost.

Cinebench R20 score is around 3890 with the overclock.

CPU Cooler

Decent cooler, which looks very nice in it's all black finish. It can be quite difficult to mount on an AM4 (Ryzen) motherboard, becouse the mounting screws are very close to the cooler.

Motherboard

Very nice motherboard for the price. It has a very nice EUFI (bios). It is not bad for memory overclocking, but it lacks clear CMOS buttons (not that I expect that on a €100 board).

The board has a nice black and grey finish, which would fit most builts. It also has 4 casefan-headers, a pumpheader and one cpu header, so plenty connenctions for fans on this board.

Memory

Nice looking memory. They use Micron Rev. E memory IC's, so they can clock high, but they don't do tight timings. In my opinion not the ideal memory IC's for ryzen 3000, since going higher than 3800mhz is pointless. The maximum frequency I could run is 4466 Mhz, but with very loose timings.

For daily use I run 3733 c16-19-18-36 tRC 58 tRFC 570.

Storage

Great storage ssd, which I got for a very low price during black friday.

Storage

Excelent nvme ssd. Extremely fast.

Video Card

Very good graphics card, if the price is right. I got it for €455, which is around the same as the Saphire Pulse and Gigabyte Gaming OC (which are excelent as well). I also got a €45 cashback from ASUS, which made this one of the cheapest RX 5700 XT's I could get. I wouldn't get this card if it is much more expensive then the models I named above, but for around the same money this is a good buy.

It is however a massive card, 2.7 slots thick and about 4cm longer then an ATX motherboard, so it won't fit in all builts.

I got it running at around 2000mhz, which is quite good, but the memory only got up to 1820mhz.

I am pretty much going to do the same build... Did you have any problems with the b450 tomahawk max?

Nice! No I did not have any problems with the b450 Tomahawk MAX. The MAX boards support ryzen 3000 out of the box, which is very useful.

My Tomahwak took the cpu like a champ but sometimes didn't display anything after booting. I updated the Bios and it works perfect now.
