My first and to date only attempt at building a gaming rig. Built this about 4 months ago but I've only just decided to publish it. I'd say I did very well considering I had never built or even modified a PC before. A combination of watching a ton of build guides online, /r/buildapcforme and word of mouth finally gave me enough confidence to dive straight in!
Amazingly, the only mistake I made was not plugging one of the fans in correctly. Overall the build took me about 3-4 hours to complete.
I built it with gaming in mind, but I pretty much use it for everything I need (streaming, editing, rendering, MS paint, watching movies, etc.)
UPDATE: 08/09/17 I've just tried my hand at overclocking. Taking it easy but settled for 4.5GHz at the moment. Also didn't realise my RAM was being throttled by my MOBO so pushed that all the way to 2400MHz. Still getting decent idle temps of 35-40C.
Best gaming GPU money can buy. i7s are pretty overkill unless you have the budget to do so.
Best Z270 MoBo for the price. Incredibly easy to use BIOS, immediately defaulted to OS boot once I inserted the Win10 USB. Not overclocked yet, but is incredibly easy from what I hear.
It's a 7200RPM HDD. Good price for 3TB. Surprisingly noisy for me.
Absolute tank of a card. Runs pretty much every game at high-max settings with frame rates only being limited by my monitor (144Hz).
Outstanding case for a first time builder. I only give it 4 stars because it's limited on radiator mounting options, as in there is only one and that is on the front. Also, no optical drive mounts (not an issue for me, but may be for some - all 3 of you)
Gorgeous monitor. Runs smooth as butter.
