It has been a long time coming, but PCPartPicker discussion forums are finally here. I've been encouraged by the growing community on this site, and I wanted to provide a centralized place where more discussion could occur.

You'll notice the format and markup are the same as the comments elsewhere on the site. I've made a few improvements to the site markup, like automatically linking urls that aren't decorated with markup. I've also included a few stylistic tweaks to hopefully make comments more readable. This is just the initial rollout, and more forum functionality is on the way (RSS feeds, reply counts, etc.).

Also, the structure and organization of the forums are very flexible, and I will adapt them based on demand. For instance, if it looks like there's a huge amount of discussion around 5.25" bay toaster ovens, I'll be happy to discuss adding a forum for those. I'd love to know what you think - there's a forum for that too!

Just out of curiosity, how many members are there on this site?

Nifty Phillip, keep on moving forward!

CompGeek09 1 point 56 months ago

Are you looking for forum moderators?

philip staff submitter 10 Builds 1 point 56 months ago

Not at the moment, but most likely in the future I will be.

CompGeek09 1 point 55 months ago

I would be interested in filling one of those positions if the need arises.

calderhutchins 1 point 55 months ago

Same.

Love the new layout! It's much neater, and will allow for you to put another tab where the forums one used to be (maybe bringing back the store!

Random question: up top by my name it says BC1096(2), what does that mean. Also forums are a well needed and well received addition

philip staff submitter 10 Builds 1 point 56 months ago

The number in parenthesis is your "comment score", or the total of upvotes/downvotes you've received through comments.

BC1096 1 point 56 months ago

Oh, that's makes sense. Thanks!

Meeks 1 point 56 months ago

Just wanted to say, I love this website. It's super intuitive. No frills. Well-designed. Exactly what I want from a website. You've got a faithful visitor for years to come in me.

philip staff submitter 10 Builds 1 point 56 months ago

Thanks! Glad you like it!

PCPartPicker, can you please add support for Intel 1st gen CPU's (such as the i7 980x and 990x)

philip staff submitter 10 Builds 1 point 55 months ago

They are in the database, but they don't show up by default because there usually isn't pricing data available. There are a couple options - use the search box at top right and search for "980x" or "990x", or when viewing CPUs, check the box "Show Items with no price data" in the price filters (on the right hand side).

counterstrike83 1 point 55 months ago

Thanks so much!

adamisepic 1 point 55 months ago

About how long do you think until the gtx titan is added to the DB? also, do you think that you could add caselabs cases to the database?

philip staff submitter 10 Builds 1 point 55 months ago

Perfect timing! I just added two Titan video cards about a few hours ago. By default it won't show up just yet though, as it is only a pre-order item right now. Here are the two that I have entered so far:

Unfortunately it looks like I won't be able to add the Caselabs cases in the near future. With each model having many different configuration options, and each permutation not having a distinct part number that I can key off of, there really isn't a way that I can list them or deep link to them appropriately. (For example, the Magnum M8 case alone has 11 different options which in turn result in 103,680 unique configurations.)

adamisepic 1 point 55 months ago

do you think that for now you could just add the basic cases, and then later, when you have more time, try adding some options?

NSCCJAA 1 point 55 months ago

Hey I was just wondering if you could add Fan Controllers to the Database thing. That would be great!

EgaoNoGenki 1 point 55 months ago

I hope you have something new to report, well over a month later. Hope your site keeps rolling out more!

philip staff submitter 10 Builds 2 points 55 months ago

I have a new feature rolling out tomorrow, assuming I can get everything finished up tonight. :)

calderhutchins 1 point 55 months ago

Why does the comment say "save" it should be submit or post :)

wileycsg 1 point 55 months ago

A 5.25 Toaster drive bay sounds Great! I'd buy one! Thanks for your website, it is a great time saver.

rOjOdogg 1 Build 1 point 55 months ago

This site is such a great tool for people who are planning a build.
