Need Immediate Help Deciding On A GPU

mjtcraft

I'm thinking of getting a gtx 1060 or 1070. I will be using it for video editing, and minecraft with max settings while recording using fraps screen recorder for youtube videos on my channel. Currently I have a desktop with a dual core intel pentium 2.60GHz, NO GRAPHICS CARD, and 4gb DDR3 ram. On lowest settings in minecraft, it runs it at 30 to 60 fps and many HUGE lag spikes that often bring it to 5 to 10 fps for a few seconds! This is what i'm thinking of: https://pcpartpicker.com/user/mjtcraft/saved/#view=4W7P6h Please help!

You need to get 8GB of RAM and a low end GPU to run Minecraft at optimal settings. A GTX 1060/70 is a bit overkill; you will be find with something like a gtx750ti (or equivalent) even for video editing as long as you aren't doing anything too extreme. The RAM is extremely important and the more the better!

add a rx 470 instead of that 380. it is much better for the same price

Yea that build would be way more than enough to run minecraft well as well as some games with demanding graphics as well. But if you are going with that scrap the cpu cooler since that CPU is locked.

However the pentium you have now should be fine though and an i3-6100 would be great. An i5 is way overkill for just Minecraft though; same with the r9 card, it would be great for high end gaming but is way overkill for minecraft.

that being said he also wants to edit videos so he might want the better i5

yea true it kinda depends on what type of videos. i mean i use an x4 860k and gtx 750ti and i have no trouble editing basic videos for youtube and even doing some advanced stuff...

for minecraft? this is basically my current build and it runs every AAA title at ultra at over 60fps. THIS IS OVERKILL if you are only going to play/record/edit minecraft.

I want to have components that are new and will last a long time for any future updates or games I might play that require more power.

One game like that is scrap mechanics or even more power hungry games like that!
