Dumpster Diving for PC Parts

I am wondering if anyone has any experience working with E-Waste facilities, recycling centers, or just dumpster diving corporate office buildings to find discarded PC hardware. I've heard of hacker-types doing the latter in an effort to recover sensitive data, but in my case, I'm just trying to get some free / cheap, old / legacy computer parts to then refurbish or supplement builds, etc. If you have some information to share, I'd gladly take it. Cool / funny / scary stories welcome.

(I predominantly reside in the greater Nashville area)

I'm in hermitage. I have a spare r5 1400, 32gb 2400 mt/s ram, fans, 21.5" monitor. If interested make an offer on the r5 and ram via pm and we can go from there. The rest of my spare parts you can have.
