Unknown slot inside hard drive compartment

I was looking at the internals of my laptop and I found this curious slot in the same compartment as my other hard drives and was wondering if anyone knows what it’s for. Any help is appreciated! Thanks!

M.2. You can throw a SATA or PCIe SSD in there. It has two of those slots, but you can't mix and match SATA and PCIe for whatever reason according to the specifications page: https://web.archive.org/web/20150207212615/http://www.sagernotebook.com/Notebook-NP9772.html

The original page on the manufacturer's website is gone.

I thought it was a M.2 drive slot, but wasn't 100% sure. So I could put this in there with no issue?
