Surprisingly solid performer for its price and for being the first ITX AM4 motherboard.
The UEFI/BIOS is about as clear as mud to navigate and use, but once it's set up properly, it's rock solid. Overclocking isn't quite as intuitive due to the BIOS, but performance is there despite using a 4-pin CPU power connector instead of the standard fare 8-pin.
Memory compatibility is decent and will be improving with further bios updates.
Suprisingly solid board with a fairly intuitive bios that is simple to navagate. I haven't tried overclocking the CPU yet but if it goes well, its performance can earn it a fith star. Would reccomend.
Only ITX motherboard available with an AM4 socket. It is not as bad as people say about Biostar. The BIOS could definitely see some improvements (as it is really bad). But overall, I am satisfied with it. It let my RAM get to 3200MHz with the XMP1 profile enable without any problem. A better MOSFET and an 8-pin connector would have been appreciated as well. The Realtek sound is not of last generation but it still sounds great.
From researching from forums, many people recommend against Biostar board due to lack of features related to overclocking, which I don't care about, and due to the dated look of the BIOS config page.
I haven't got any issues so far with this board apart from the lack of onboard Wifi + Bluetooth. At the time of purchase, this for the only option for AM4 mini ITX motherboard. Had I waited only a little longer, I would have gone with AM4 mini ITX boards from ASRocks or Gigabyte...
The internet is quite divisive on this. Apparently reviewers find that it's a minimal but solid MoBo, but many users give it a lot of hate for having a messy BIOS menu and for being a Biostar board.
I've personally not had any problems yet with BIOS navigation which might be because it's been 7 years since my last build, so my expectations were quite low going in. Previously I've found after the initial setup you just forget about it anyway so I guess that will happen quite soon.
My board needed a bit of tweaking out of the box since my RAM defaulted to 2133Mhz and the CPU cooler was running on 100% all the time, but once I activated an XMP profile and ran the fan PWM calibration everything was hunky-dory. Haven't tried overclocking the CPU yet though since it looked like a lot of manual work.
The cheapest mini ITX AM4 board I could find. It does its job. It also has a neat RGB led panel near the back that you can fully customize with the included software or in the bios. -1 star because the BIOS layout is a mess but you can still work with it.
Despite the fairly mixed reviews of this board, and the fact that it is no longer the only mITX Ryzen board, I do not at all regret purchasing this board. I will admit that the BIOS is a little bit clunky, but it certainly is navigable. Since this PC is designed to be a small desktop, instead of a portable LAN machine, I don't miss the exclusion of on-board wifi. I also appreciate Biostar's color neutral design (unlike the red competitors).
Everything on this board is great - except one very major flaw. The MOSFET temps are extremely high, which has absolutely prevented me from doing any overclocking of the CPU. If I knew this beforehand, I don't think I ever would have purchased this MB.
The default BIOS configuration clocked my memory down to 2133 speeds, and ran the fans at full tilt with no management. So you will have to do a little bit of tweaking here. The I/O shield also sucks, with metal tabs that you have to bend backwards. Otherwise seems good so far. Some people complain about the BIOS, but most people only go into the BIOS a few times and then never touch it again. Plus, it's really not bad.
It definitely doesn't make sense for the build it's being used in, but that doesn't make it bad - just overqualified for the job. :P
I had some teething problems with it initially, but after a BIOS reflash, it's been decent. I suspect, however, that if we had more and better ITX options for AM4, I might not recommend it as readily. Worth mentioning is that it only has a 4-pin power connector, and its VRMs aren't that great, so you won't be overclocking much.
