from completed build Get Better Gaming Rig

Great card if you're willing to deal with lots of heat and noise. Best bang for the buck performance. Not terribly electrically efficient, though. Best combined with a water-cooler unless you are deaf.

    from completed build Tesseract

The R9 290x is an actual monster. 4 stars because of noise and power consumption. Nvidia is generally more efficient and quieter. It's aged well and can still run recently released games on high - ultra. This baby pushes The Witcher 3 on max settings to 75fps overclocked core: 1120MHz, overclocked memory: 1320MHz

    from completed build Update 1.1

Not on the stock cooler so the review is with a g10 an h50

Got a nice 100mhz oc out of the core and looks a lot better and a absolute ton quieter with the new cooler on it. never goes above 54 on the core
