A nice RX 470 4GB from Asus. This thing is near silent, even when the fans are at 1800 - 2200 RPM, but when it reaches 2500 RPM, it gets LOUD. It also gets real hot. On idle, it sits at 50 C, and under load, it touches 80 C. But it does have a 0db fan option, so it explains for the 50 C on idle. It also has decent OC potential. I haven't tried anything extreme, though. It's good for what it is.
Great card for the price. LEDs look awesome and add to the scheme. Does well on most big titles.
Some reviewers tick me off. On Newegg people are complaining that the card thermal throttles when they put an overclock on it, yet they don't change the fanspeed or voltage to compensate, and then there are people complaining about the material of the fans! In my 3-week experience, this card has gotten me over 60fps in all cases except for Crysis 3 where I had to turn the settings to high. Still, I got at least 45-50 fps at ultra. Steam gave it a VR score of 6.0 which is borderline VR Ready (I still would not recommend this card for VR though) and the card stays very cool even when I put it into ASUS' OC mode (I have yet to do a custom overclock). It's barely less powerful than the 480 but it's 30 bucks cheaper. Greatest value of a card IMO. Please buy!
Edit- PCPP: Add a picture for this card! Sorry that just annoyed me :P
For such a premium looking, and (generally) priced, Strix card, I was expecting a backplate of some kind which is disappointing. The cooler shroud is fairly solid plastic but is mainly attached to the PCB around the middle of the card, especially not towards the rear end near the power connector where it ‘floats’. The card idles nicely in the case in it’s 0 RPM fan mode at 35 Degrees C so is silent in idle and light loads, and fairly quiet under load.
