At the time of purchase this was one of the fastest drives. The Pro version is faster, but I notice the savings in my wallet more than the speed difference.

I wanted this build to be as quick as possible, so I decided why not get one of the fastest storage options out there. My new build boots from a cold start just as fast as my previous build would awaken from a sleep despite having a Samsung 860 EVO SATA 128GB SSD as its boot drive. I partnered this Samsung 970 EVO M.2 250GB SSD with a Samsung 860 EVO SATA 2TB SSD, which I use as my main storage. Samsung is my first and only choice when it comes to SSDs, I have yet to have an issue with any of their products.

This drive is very fast and worked right out of the box. No complaints!

While being throttled by an M.2 insulator, this thing booted anything in 5 seconds. I hit the power button, enter my pin, and admire my wallpaper in about 3 seconds. Worth the investment, absolutely.

No benefit for NVME? Despite benchmarks (found online or done personally) showing monumental boosts to R/W speeds, in practice this does little for typical use or gaming. Games load the same, Windows boots the same. File transfer is faster but existing 2.5" SSDs are good enough for almost everyone. I give it a 3/5 because the utility for gaming, etc is low, but the small form factor and cableless installation is a benefit to cable management at least.

Loads in seconds... Fastest SSD within a reasonable budget.
