Cheap and a lot of storage, noise isn't too bothersome.

Hitachi - Ultrastar 7K3000 2TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive. I was looking into Hitachis as they were recommended to me. I knew an SSD wasn't in the current plans, so I focused on a SATA III (6) hard drive. No complaints.

For an HDD it is relatively quiet, I very rarely hear it at all. Even for an HDD it is still relatively fast, and it's a Hitachi so I'm confident that it will last for a while.

My second Ultrastar. You can't beat them for cheap high volume storage. They can definitely be noisy, but they have been working flawlessly for storing media files.

I snagged this for quite a bit cheaper than other 2tb hdds available at the time. Hitachi is a pretty decent company, so only time will tell how long this drive lasts.
