Cheap and a lot of storage, noise isn't too bothersome.

Hitachi - Ultrastar 7K3000 2TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive. I was looking into Hitachis as they were recommended to me. I knew an SSD wasn't in the current plans, so I focused on a SATA III (6) hard drive. No complaints.

Reliable fast hard drive and is relatively quiet. Real cheap too.

It works so that's good enough for me.

For an HDD it is relatively quiet, I very rarely hear it at all. Even for an HDD it is still relatively fast, and it's a Hitachi so I'm confident that it will last for a while.

My second Ultrastar. You can't beat them for cheap high volume storage. They can definitely be noisy, but they have been working flawlessly for storing media files.

Works but this one is LOUD!!! I didn't notice it much when it was first built. I hear it clearly now. Damn loud. I mean if you like that "crabs scrambling in a plastic bucket" type noise, then buy one of these. Otherwise find something quieter.
