Does the job but it's noisy. We don't need to use it much, and I'm glad we got an optical drive to suit some CDs he has, but I knew I was buying a budget unit.

It does what it is supposed to. I pulled this from an old dell inspiron, and it is load af, but I don't think that buying an optical drive, let alone a high end one, at this point is completely ridiculous.

from completed build Budget Office Computer

A little loud but it works. Was a requirement for migrating some old backups from previous PCs.

INCREDIBLY loud, but it works. It will let you know it's working! If you want something quiet, do not get this. It's by FAR the absolute loudest disc drive I've encountered in my entire life.

A lot faster than anything I've seen in a laptop. Wasn't a part I particularly needed, but I still have a few DVDs and CDs lying around. I do not use it often. When the system powers up, it does make a lot of noise and emits a strong vibration though. IT ALMOST SCARED THE **** OUT OF ME when I first installed it and booted into the system. It can be noisy at times.
