Comment reply on Churchland's Completed Build: Build 2015 NZXT H440 with GTX 970 SLI

Today is July 10th 2017 and I wanted to report this system is still going strong although a few weeks ago on restart I heard what sounded like throwing a screw into a fan. At first I thought it was the pump on the cooler but it turned out one of the fan blades on the GTX 970 became brittle and broke into pieces. Kudos to MSI for promptly replacing the GPU, not only did they replace it, I got upgraded to the GTX 1070 Gaming 8G.

Thanks. FYI, I'm going to have to replace the Corsair AIO, pump failed cpu's over 80. Going with the Be Quiet Dark Rock 3 if it fits.

PCI_E1 - Closest to cpu or the uppermost slot.

PCI_E5- The next closest after the top slot.

PS - I'm now running Linux Mint 17.2 64 bit on this rig and runs nice. I'm using the nvidia 346.72 listed in Linux Mint's driver manager.

Glad you like the build and good luck on yours. The two SSD's work out great, I have Windows 8.1 on the first one and Linux Mint on the other one.

Of all of my builds, this is my favorite by far.

Thanks. Just dumb luck that the red decal matches the red in the 440 almost exactly.

From the test's I've seen on youtube the noctua industrials are a little noisier than the regular noctuas. The corsair's are really quiet, so if they suit your build go with them.

I forgot to mention I got the decal from DrewsVinyl on Etsy in case anyone is interested.

heh, yeah, that's why I put them in the front. Some people go with the Noctua Industrial or the gray (forget the name).

If I wasn't doing a theme build, I probably would have went with the Windforce considering it comes with a back plate and better output options.

You might want to hold off a little while on the 970's it's not official, but there is concern that there is a problem with the VRAM.

I am finishing up a build this weekend using the NZXT H440 in red. How about you?

Yeah I would hate to part with it even though I'll be building a new PC soon. I also still have the original Coolermaster Cosmos and two Antec Sonata's in mint condition.

Thanks for the replies all. I went with the MSI Gaming 7 today mostly because it was on sale today for 149.00... and of course the dragon :)

How do you like the MSI Gaming 5? I'm torn between it and the Asus Maximus VII Hero.

How would you compare the features and sound on two?

Did you try the sound on that Sniper board?

I've always had a sound card (ASUS Xonar D1 currently) and I"m going to try and not use one on my next build.

I was really torn betweeen the Asus Mark 1 and the Asus Maximus VII Hero, I'm going with the Hero, hope I don't regret it.

Have you thought about painting your armor white? It really looks good. http://imgur.com/a/ANEil

Another option is to sell the blue ram on ebay or reddit and buy red ram, it would only cost you the difference.
