Is this your build? I would highly recommend finding the money for a Seasonic PSU. Don't put all your nice new components with a low quality PSU. https://pcpartpicker.com/part/seasonic-power-supply-s12ii520bronze

For $600 it is a good deal. Is the windows license transferrable? I know very little about windows.

Like elvenson says.

You can upgrade this system right? You can put a FX6300 or FX8320 and add a new GPU. The MB's good, the RAM's good, the PSU's fine and the HDD is fine. Otherwise if you sell this you lose any equity you have in it. Oh and the Windows is $90 you'd save too.

Save up a little more and get a Seasonic. They've earned their reputation. I got one recently and the quality shows. I think mine was $70. It wasn't modular but modular's more of a gimmick really. Ask a real electrical engineer and they'll tell you that fewer connectors improves efficiency over the long run.

Most bang for your buck right now. It's not a secret. The secret is why others spend more money for performance that goes largely unused.

Oh and while I'm at it, it looks like there's some news about Intel cooking the books and they just reported lower earnings. More to come out soon, well unless they bribe the right "officials".

They can be hard to pull out, make sure the latch is clear from the tab then wiggle it a little while pulling.

I have a seasonic PSU and it was much easier to plug and unplug the 20-pin than my previous antec PSU. When I first plugged it in I did a double check on it to make sure I plugged it in right. Same MB but different PSUs. Seasonic has earned their reputation AFAICT.

Too bad you didn't have an Asus MB. They have a feature called MemOK! that detects memory problems. If it encounters a problem you press the MemOK button and it will reconfig for the memory that's installed.

You are not missing anything in the BIOS. The KB would need a power switch. You could wire one from the KB to the PC. What flashing lights do you have? You could cover them up or disconnect the lights then you could wake the PC from the KB.

Comment reply on Forum Topic "Tore down my PC, rerouted cables, motherboard now throwing memory error and not POSTing."

I will tell you what I'd do. I'd take everything out and reconnect the basics placed on top of a non-conductive surface, e.g. cardboard MB box. Just the PSU, MB, RAM (1 set in the right slots) , GPU, CPU then power on and see what you get.

My first instinct was that the cable rerouting may have caused a problem. Check all the connectors and pins. I always use a bright LED flashlight to look down inside connectors and cable ends.

Nice build BTW.

Some people R&R (remove and replace) the paste with new but usually it's ok to use it as-is. Just make sure it's evenly spread and a thin layer.

FYI, this reply was in reply to this:

Nope, its selling, not just selling good due to it barely being on par with a GTX 980 TI and having only 4GB of VRAM which holds it back some at 4K.

The poster of that lie decided to delete their post. I don't think that the delete should be allowed when there are replies, since it creates dangling replies.

You can look under completed builds and filter on FuryX but really you can't because there are none with the FuryX. But someone's got to have a Fury X here.

You have to tell us your budget. And don't buy parts 1-by-1 it will cause you pain and suffering. Save up until you can buy them all or at least the critical parts. Like MB, CPU, memory, GPU, PSU so that you can make sure they all work and you can send any parts back that don't work.

Comment reply on Forum Topic "Will AMD go bankrupt within the next several years?"

No, AMD is not going bankrupt. Intel and nvidia fanz would like you and everyone else to think that. It's called FUD (fear, uncertainty and doubt) and it's a tactic. Also post the numbers that they are "loosing" money each year and falling short of their competitors. I also notice that all your builds use intel.

I have had this problem with many laptops. It's easy to fix it but you need compressed air. I have 90PSI and blow out all the cooling fins I can see. You will be amazed at how much dust comes out. This will most likely solve the issue.

Comment reply on Forum Topic "Some boards let you update the bios without a correct cpu"

Ok this feature on ASUS M5A97 is really easy.

  • download the latest BIOS
  • copy it to a FAT16 or FAT32 formatted USB stick
  • Copy new BIOS to USB stick using the correct filename The filename to use is in the MB manual. Mine was m5a97r20.cap.
  • Unplug the PSU
  • put the USB stick in the USB port (it's labelled with a color)
  • Plugin the PSU and switch it on.
  • Then press the flashback button and hold for a few seconds then release.

As the update proceeds the LED flashes faster and faster. When it's done the LED goes off.
