duken30's Completed Build: Russ Flagship '18 i7 2080ti 165hz Build

Esoteric0781 1 Build 2 points 4 months ago

That is a monster. You have space left to liquid cool the RTX with a Kraken G12. Which sounds like a good idea as hot as those things run. The cables are super clean in the back but the ones going to the GPU are all twisted and it looks back. Petty I know but you dont spend this kind of money for it to look bad.

ians907's Completed Build: She wants the D, the 1000D!!

Esoteric0781 1 Build 2 points 5 months ago

Holy poo what a beast! But in all honesty I really dont like the tube work. It just doesn't look good. Specifically the angled piece. It just looks lazy and sloppy.

CleanFader's Completed Build: Glacier II

Esoteric0781 1 Build 1 point 5 months ago

Wow this is a really awesome build. Well done.

Eliray12's Completed Build: Simple Custom Water Cooling Loop (Soft Tubing)

Esoteric0781 1 Build 2 points 5 months ago

No man, its not dumb at all. I just built my first too and wondered the same thing. These things are too expensive to not be sure about anything. Ask a million questions. And once you have the parts, Everything comes with manuals, youll see its not nearly as complicated as you thought. Just a lot of screws.

l2pTink3r's Completed Build: (With Build Video!) Budget CAD Workstation in the Define Mini C!

Esoteric0781 1 Build 1 point 5 months ago

Really nice build for that budget. The RAM and GPU you can easily upgrade later when you need. If he's rendering I definitely wouldn't overclock. It's way too stressful on the CPU, it's not like gaming at all. Gaming it'll go up and down, up when it needs to then back down, when rendering the CPU is at 100% load for however long it takes. You got a good CPU though so he shouldn't need to.

Eliray12's Completed Build: Simple Custom Water Cooling Loop (Soft Tubing)

Esoteric0781 1 Build 2 points 5 months ago

It's not incompatible, it just disables a sata port. If your using this same MB the slot M2_1 will disable 1 port, if you use slot M2_2 it will disable ports 5 & 6. You should have 6 ports which should be plenty. It's just giving you a heads up in case you planned on using all 6 ports.

Esoteric0781 1 Build 1 point 5 months ago

Very nice build! We have really similar setups, I paid extra for the 8086k for that guaranteed 5.0 OC and you won it in the lottery. I really wish I had done a custom loop now instead of an AIO. Now you have the option of looping in the GPU if you want.

saracatlee's Completed Build: Project ICESTORM

mXiyaan's Completed Build: Dual Xeon 3D Rendering Workstation

Esoteric0781 1 Build 1 point 5 months ago

Haha this is the exact same debate i have with myself every day. I work in architecture so i want to use 3ds max, revit etc but i also tinker a lot in iray. The jury still seems to be out on the 2080’s performance i havent been about to find any good info for iray performance.

Esoteric0781 1 Build 1 point 5 months ago

CanBePro's Completed Build: First Custom WaterCooled PC

Esoteric0781 1 Build 1 point 5 months ago

Looks really good. This is an impressive build. Im lmao at that birds nest of wires in the back. Mine looks about the same. I'm looking to attempt my first custom loop as well. Not anytime real soon, I want a second graphics card and a few other things first. All in all would you say it was a difficult task? Got any good educational resources for newbs you'd like to share?

Flokke's Completed Build: The Deep Deep Blue wallet killer?!?!

Esoteric0781 1 Build 2 points 6 months ago

Whoa. That is awesome. And who cares what the cost was if you have the money and that's what you want then go for it. If I didn't just buy a Jeep I'd probably have two 2080's right now. I feel like as much as you spent on this, and as awesome as it is you should have shelled out a few hundred more and gotten a 4TB SSD. Ill never own an HDD again.

Esoteric0781's Completed Build: I7-8086k Thermaltake Core P3

Forum Topic "SATA SSD vs. NVME SSD"

Esoteric0781 1 Build 1 point 6 months ago

If all you are doing is running the OS on the drive then 500gb is plenty for system images, backups, and then some. a 970 EVO is only like $50 more than a SATA, maybe it wont boot up significantly faster, but it will do a lot of other things significantly faster, like file transfer and backups. Plus you never know, maybe you want a dedicated boot drive today, maybe next year you dont. Why get a drive 1/4 the speed over $50? At least thats how I feel.

kyle28's Completed Build: Upgraded Tomato

Esoteric0781 1 Build 2 points 6 months ago

Wow that is super clean, and you have a ton of storage too. Ill be building my P3 Snow this weekend and I definitely want that LED backlighting now having seen yours. Also what kind of paint did you use? It looks clean. Ive used plastidip in the past and wasnt happy with the results.
