Not all expensive clothing brands are just for needless wastes of money. Depending on the brand you by, you get higher quality materials, more intricate designs, and better fits. I personally don't shop for outrageously expensive clothes, but I do enjoy quality.

Precisely, so a driveshaft snapping isn't going to tear your car in half.

Yeah, if you add too much power and the driveshaft is the weak point, that could break, but it wouldn't tear your car in half lmao. What do you think the frame of a car does?

Uhh no, where did you get that idea? I mean, you can add a ton of power, but get a ton of wheel spin that will make your launch worse or it can have too much power and be uncontrollable leading to spins.

Not always. If you don't build up the rest of your car or do it right, you'll just be left spinning tires or the rear will try to swap sides with the front.

I live in a bit of a bubble haha, I'm from the Silicon Valley. Chargers at work are quite common, lots of companies around here have several. I'm not certain on the cost to install charging, but I'm sure its under $1000, maybe $500?

You can actually buy it directly from Audi and bolt it to tons of cars.

Oooo, now that's giving me some ideas.

Ive driven lots of supercars and honestly the R8 is just one of the few that doesn't feel like if you beat on it it'll fall apart.

100% agreed on this note. Some cars just have a feeling that they are well put together and solid. Like everything was placed together properly. The Acura NSX and newer Porsches also invoke this feeling for me

Originally I wanted a 240z modded exactly like this, but I've sort of fallen out of love with them after seeing them in person.

Now, there are two cars that I have my eye on. The Ferrari 328, ideally in blue like that one, but gray also looks stellar. I fell in love with that one after seeing it in person at the Monterey Concours. Midengine, vintage, gated manual, exactly what I want.

However, since I don't want to foot the bill of maintaining a Ferrari nor do I know if I even enjoy driving it, I've been looking at a more practical and obtainable Porsche. The 996 911 has been piquing my interest for some time now and I actually think it looks stellar with a Turbo or GT2 front facia. An interesting color also makes it pop.

Yeah, and for some reason, Astons have a crappy amount of room as well. For being a grand touring type of car, I'd expect to be able to fit in the better than a sports car. Yet, I fit better in Lamborghinis and other low sports/super cars than I do in a DB11 or a DBS.

The 1st gen R8 with a stick is a ton of fun, the only thing I think is funny is that the manual doesn't actually touch the gates of the shifter haha.

Yeah, where I'm from, they are super common. 90% of people on my street have a Tesla or a Leaf/Bolt/i3. They plug them in at home and charge them at work. Some of them go to superchargers, but they are pretty packed.

C5s are around $10k and Z06s are often around $15-20k. That is absolutely affordable, kids at my high school used to drive those.

Who cares about gas mileage? He was talking about using the cars in more of a grand touring aspect. Similarly, Lamborghini's ownership by Audi has been an entirely beneficial relationship. They sell many more cars with higher reliability and quality.

I'd get something cheap and reliable. As for a GTR, used ones are getting quite cheap, so it isn't that distant of a thing depending on your income.

Your electives will have a minor impact on your chance of getting into a college like CMU or UIUC. By that I mean, which one you take doesn't impact much. However, not taking one will have a slightly negative impact and a mediocre grade more so. I'd prioritize as high a GPA as is possible for you over everything else in core classes, especially math and science.

Comment reply on Forum Topic "help with picking classes for high school"

Those two things combined will get you into bigger schools, and if you score high enough, you might even get invitations to the schools.

It's not just scores. Those are essentially a baseline to having your application even read (assuming you don't have any major hooks like URM, 1st gen, extenuating circumstances, etc.). You need to be unique and have something or something that make you stand out. I've known plenty of high stat people (1550/35+, 4.7+) who've gotten rejected from even T20 schools. I'd recommend getting research positions, internships, and interesting experiences you can talk about in your essays. Make an impact somehow.

What is the difference then? We are rapidly, negatively changing the climate with seemingly no end in sight.

Comment reply on Forum Topic "Green New Deal"

Climate is not the same thing as weather. Climate changes over time sure, but the amount that its changed in a short period is vastly greater and can be correlated to the industrial revolution.

But in the end we cannot control the climate since it changes all the time (with or without us).

The rate at which the climate is changing is unprecedented and can be directly attributed to a wide-scale change in human behavior. We absolutely can control the climate as seen by how rapidly its changed in the last 100 years.

I mean, comparing older cars to newer cars the only real difference in terms of interior is maybe head units, but you can still get custom face plates and that sort for newer, non-DIN cars. Also, interior modifications are a really small part of car modifications unless you just care about audio or something.

I was referring to the crime rate which despite being in an area where houses cost 300 to 500 thousand dollars the crime rate was very high especially when it comes to theft. This isn't unique to where i was at either it's basically the case for most "middle class" suburbs in the LA and SD areas.

Ah, I'm not especially sure of that, but it sounds like a bad area. Especially with those house prices.

SF itself is out of the equation, Okaland isn't in silicon valley and i've never been to Oakland. Fremont isn't a bad area like Oakland is ( from what i heard ) so you're most likely right in that regard. Irvine? thats almost as expensive as SF! with average house prices in the millions!

SF is in the equation, it's in OP's post. Oakland may not technically be in the Silicon Valley (which is roughly designated), but it provides easy access to the rest of it. Irvine is quite cheap comparitively. The Median home price is in the high six figures.

Seriously? The only time I was unable to see sunset was during the fires. There has never been smog otherwise. I know my neighbors pretty well and we often do community events and have shared interests. Also, sirens blazing? How urban were you?

Silicon Valley is "rich", but SF is much harder to live in, so I'm not sure about your whole point. Oakland isn't as bad, nor is Fremont. Irvine was way even easier, especially compared to LA.

I have yet to hear anyone try to convince me to become vegan besides the occasional advertisement. Those who are vegan here don't proclaim it loudly from the rooftops nor try to convert people. I like eating meat same as anyone and have done so without issue.

What I'm trying to say with the republican statistic is that there are still several Republicans for everyone group of democrats. If you don't live within the Silicon Valley, Republicans have a pretty big presence, even in LA and SD. So I'm not entirely understanding your point about the number of minority or republican voters compared to democratic voters.

What's wrong with other people being vegan? Isn't that their choice? Drug needles are a problem in downtown SF, but that's a tiny part of California. People aren't extremely liberal, in fact, California has more Republicans than every other state besides Texas. Wildfires are a problem in a select number of rural places

Yep! I love it! I'm in the Silicon Valley and there really is no place like it. Everyone here is in tech or knows about it. Walking past cafes you constantly hear business strategies and startup pitches.

So many opportunities for internships and experiences like no where else. World famous driving roads less than a 5 minute drive from my house. Beautiful ocean views and surfing just an hour away. I love everything about it.
