Cool build. Nice to see all the old bits come together and power up once again.
Update, the system did arrive Wednesday, but my customer didn't get it set up until today. The only issue from shipping was the front panel connection block came loose. One it was affixed, the system powered up.
I went with non-ECC ram, since I have had very good experiences with G.Skill memory.
Beautiful system. Love the lighting and how clean it is. Well done!
I used the Fractal Design box, wraps the case in the plastic back and reused the foam blocks. I can see I didn't do enough to protect it. I will know what happened on Wednesday.
Thanks for your thoughts. My client didn't want a gaming case, and I couldn't see such a case fitting with what he wants to do. Just on an acoustic level, I was amazed how quiet it, even when chugging away on Prime95. As for the CPU choice, well, looks like I didn't do enough research.
From the research I did on GIS software, the Xeon seemed like a good choice.
I shipped via FedEx Ground.
Just posted it now.
Awesome build. Definitely worthy of being featured. Your attention to detail is great.
You may even like how WMC works over X1. Some Comcast techs who saw it commented they liked it over X1.
I couldn't get XBMC to see my tuner - call it operator error. It did look cool, though.
Perhaps I could go Hulk.
The fans are great. I recommend them.
No way did I pay $179 for windows. They are likely quoting a retail box price - I went with the OE version - more like $99.
I haven't tried Halo 4 on it. I have run Half-Life 2 on pretty high settings, but SC2 at lower resolution and settings. Go with one of the new Godivari APUs, and you can play BF4 at 1080.
Not at all. You just need to have Comcast activate the cable card, and that is done over the phone. WMC guides you through the set up.
The K400 continues to work just fine. I am really liking the Rosewill remote.
That cpu would be plenty powerful and 8 GB is good for an HTPC. I have read that Intel CPUs do not support audio over HDMI, so adding a video card would be good to do.
With my system, the most noise I get is from my fans. As for the cooler, I installed it on the MB outside of the system before MB installation. Doing it that way, the install of the cooler was easy.
If they do that, that would be great. I know a lot of people are miffed there is no WMC with Windows 10.
Greets, if I was still using the AverMedia Card, I would try Kodi. I had even messed with XBMC a bit. With the Ceton Card, it only works with WMC, but that is not such a bad thing.
