Any of these will be your best route. VA panel (superior colour reproduction, accuracy and viewing angles), 120-144Hz refresh rate and DisplayPort (allows for the 1660TI to frame-sync)

  • Better PSU
  • Better CPU and GPU combo (this should be fine with both titles mentioned)
  • 32GB RAM isn’t really needed (only if you plan on doing heavy workloads). 16GB should be fine, even with larger maps

  • 2933MHz is natively supported by the motherboard (that 3000MHz will actually downclock)

  • Noctua is one of the best brands out there for fans (their static pressure is very good, and they'll be quieter, too)

  • Full modular isn't really necessary, but since it wasn't too much more over a semi-modular, it'll be better, ease-of construction wise

Forum Topic "[GER] Gaming build that will last 2 years. 144hz 1440p AAA"

  • RTX does actually support FreeSync, believe it or not (as long as you have DisplayPort, that is)

  • SATA M.2 drives, such as the MX500 are all you're going to need (you don't really need NVME unless your read/write loads become heavier)

Forum Topic "First Build - Final Draft"

ImperiousBattlestar 1 point 11 hours ago

They did get somewhat of a performance boost, but the game engine still favours faster cores over a high latency chip.

Forum Topic "Is a PSU Wattage over what your system uses ok to use?"

ImperiousBattlestar 1 point 22 hours ago

Then, it should be fine, but a few things first.

  • Why 32GB RAM? (it isn’t really necessary unless you pave got the workloads to back it up)
  • SSD is on the small side.
  • PSU is mediocre
  • Is an optical drive really needed

Forum Topic "How bad is INWIN A1 PSU? For 2080 rtx?"

ImperiousBattlestar 2 points 22 hours ago

It’s OK, but it’s perfectly capable of powering a 2080

https://pcpartpicker.com/builds/by_part/LbVD4D#g=427

In short, it should be fine, unless something dictates swapping it out.

  • Better SSD
  • For not too much more, you can get a 2070 (much more power efficient, better performing than the Vega 64)
  • Cheaper case (that should be just as quiet)

QLC should be fine, but the low endurance might become a problem, if large amounts of data are written.

If that seems like an issue to you, get one of these 4, instead

ImperiousBattlestar 1 point 22 hours ago

Well, it’s a bit much for the server, but at least you could use it as a backup, lest something happen to the gaming rig that puts it out of commission.

Forum Topic "Switch it up! Open to opinions!"

ImperiousBattlestar 2 points 1 day ago

The server can stay like that (the hardware is more than up to the challenge), so I wouldn’t do anything there.

I’d say just get the stuff to finish off the gaming rig, and then upgrade the monitor.

Well, for the OS, you’ll have to buy a proper licence, as per the TOS

That being said, your list looks pretty good, except for a few changes

  • Upped the PSU a little (so you have a bigger power window for a better card)
  • Having a larger case and a smaller motherboard isn’t exactly going to look great, and m-ATX cases are slightly cheaper too (this one also has better airflow, thanks to a meshed front panel)

  • Do you really need 32GB RAM?
  • Ditched the AIO (stock cooler is just fine and AIOs are much more maintenance intensive in the long term)
  • Bigger HDD
  • Newer GPU
  • 750W is a bit much (650W is fine)

  • Switched to an X470 motherboard (better voltage offsets and power delivery, which is better for that high power chip)
  • Cheaper SSD (that should be just as good)

Not sure about the temps for the 2070, but it should be fine.

If you are concerned, switch that Zotac card out for another brand.

Depends on resolution and titles.

For 1080p, it should be just fine

The S340 is actually the older version of the case you have, so it’s best if you stick with the one you have.

It would be fine, but that cooler is quite dated, so I wouldn’t really pick it.

Either of these 2 would be fine, and just as good.

The Wraith Max is somewhat of a sidegrade from the stock cooler, so I wouldn’t really use it

As for the memory, AM4’s ‘Infinity Fabric’ architecture relies on high RAM bandwidth and frequency to operate optimally, so it’s much better to get a faster kit

Also squeezed in some other niceties, like a mechanical keyboard, VA panel monitor, and a bigger SSD.
