Forum Topic "Can i survive without leaving my Windows 7?"

KarmAngel submitter 1 point 5 hours ago

I see. I mentioned dying cause my laptop has some sort of memory/storage problem and sometimes gives me the blue screen of death. I don't know until i update for w10, if it will be alive.

I avoid buying stuff with this pc and all sort of purchases here. However, my accounts are in danger then... Well, ****! I have to come up with a solution quickly.

Forum Topic "Can i survive without leaving my Windows 7?"

KarmAngel submitter 1 point 5 hours ago

That's true. I forgot that point. At least they are stoping with the new OS versions and it's all going to be updates.

Forum Topic "Can i survive without leaving my Windows 7?"

KarmAngel submitter 1 point 5 hours ago

Guess you are right. Just got accept the shot at my wallet and not complain.

You either pay and have it or just save it and don't have it.

Forum Topic "Can i survive without leaving my Windows 7?"

KarmAngel submitter 1 point 6 hours ago

Look. I'm not saying to cheap out or to be free. They could just lower some few dollars/euros, i wouldn't complain.

I think it's a little overpriced. Of course, i can't overlook the work on the OS from Microsoft. I just think even for that, they are asking a little bit more.

I can pay to get a Windows10, no problem. But still i have an opinion about it... everyone has in fact. Only way that i would see dropping prices is if they had competition. Without it, they just can stamp any price they want.

Forum Topic "Can i survive without leaving my Windows 7?"

KarmAngel submitter 1 point 6 hours ago

Sorry. Got my "fury" take the best of me. I apologize

In my country, the politics and the big companies/enterprises, are corrupt and they ruin the financial state of my country, with thefts (all sort of), screwing with people's economies and lifes. I hate when people call me, direclty or indirectly, that i'm not honest or that i'm a thief. I get mad about it. I take honesty, respect and other values way too far. Sorry man, i really misunderstood what you were saying. I read all your post, believe me. But responding to that big message, i got lost and focused on some points of it.

It's a bit pricey. If they could lower just a bit, i wouldn't complain. But when the Windows 7 support ends, it's more likely that i have to change my laptop's OS (if it comes with life until then, cause since day 1, this laptop only gave me problems of all sort. And if it supports windows 10 as well.)

Funny thing. Maybe i will be able to use Linux... If all goes as i planned, i will emigrate to study once more, this time for Web Developer, because nursery, although i finished university and i'm able to work as a nurse, as a reality and others aspects that i don't really like it. So, chase your dreams, am i right?

Learning to use Linux is part of the Web Developer studies (and maybe IOS). Probably when i learn it, i will start to use it on my PC. I heard that Linux is more easier to use than ever before. Kinda difficult on initiating but when all assemble, easy as using windows. I saw this video of Linus and it really got my interest. Only if Linux started to do the competition to Microsoft itself....

Once again, sorry for my stupid angry attitude

Forum Topic "Can i survive without leaving my Windows 7?"

KarmAngel submitter 1 point 7 hours ago

I see. But is more probable, that my pc will die of other stuff than the lack of security, given the problems it gave me since day 1.

But yeah, when day comes, guess i will have to upgrade (if my laptop supports it, cause i have my doubts on that)

Forum Topic "Can i survive without leaving my Windows 7?"

KarmAngel submitter 1 point 10 hours ago

I don't want the cheaper versions or pirated versions of it.

It's just... too high still. If they lowered a bit, i wouldn't complain.

Forum Topic "Can i survive without leaving my Windows 7?"

KarmAngel submitter 1 point 10 hours ago

Look. My financial situation is fine. I'm paying for my upcoming build PC the W10 and Office.

But this laptop, with W7, is hard to justify the upgrade, with such price.

I'm sure, wether my financial position is good or bad or that you are affected by it or not, a person can have an opinion about it. Even if you don't need such product, you can criticise it's price for being high.

I would say, 100$ or € are the maximum for W10. More than that is just a theft for the costumers.

I know, there are many costs involved in creating it and there's a lot of people working on it with many specialists, but still.... too much.

Ah, another thing (and don't get it mistaken). I don't support theft or slavery work. I'm certainly against people robbing (but with your example of robbing food, it's another context, it's just not simply theft, but it's a question of misery and survival, which many of those people living on such misery, didn't have a choice or any oportunity, but that's just an complex subject abouth ethics) or selling stuff with those low prices, that are supported with human slavery.

I don't support these kind of activities, i always worked hard, saved money (that's what made me to buy my PC build parts) and try to be honest.

I don't understand, why did you bring up that to the table or what do you think that i am... Don't you dare to compare to such corrupt practices... No one asked for the extremely cheaper prices or the pirated versions of it.

The same goes for companies that are charging more for their products than what they really would be valued... It's a legal theft (to put in some nice words), but not great for the consumers in my point of view.

MS needs competition in this matter. Always charging more than the products actually are valuable.

Of course, me, can't use any more OS besides windows, so i'm kinda screwed on it. But what i don't want of MS is to be another Apple.

Forum Topic "Can i survive without leaving my Windows 7?"

KarmAngel submitter 1 point 1 day ago

It's almost my case. Windows 7, with AVG antivirus (does a pretty nice work, tbh), only visit websites that i know that are safe and trustable, never exploring anything else.

Forum Topic "Can i survive without leaving my Windows 7?"

KarmAngel submitter 1 point 1 day ago

I know that security is compromised. But i think, i will be "safe", if i only visit websites that i know that are trustable and safe. With that said, i don't intend on exploring or visit online content that i never heard or trust.

It's still not safe but at least is something. XD I just stay out of dubious websites and do my normal website routine.

Forum Topic "Can i survive without leaving my Windows 7?"

KarmAngel submitter 1 point 1 day ago

100 $ or € would be the maximum price to them come up with.

Of course, creating Windows 10 wasn't an easy task for Microsoft, it was time consuming and maybe really expensive to come up with.

But their price for the W10, is just too high, nonetheless. We (consumers) always would love to have the OS from the creator itself, but if it's price was a little lower and more accessible to the public in general.

What you will end up with, is facing a bunch of people buying W10 from third party stores (with much and much lower prices) or even people having a pirated version W10.

If the price isn't appealing, what's the point of all the work to create the OS then?

Forum Topic "Can i survive without leaving my Windows 7?"

KarmAngel submitter 1 point 2 days ago

I don't think it's ancient, so i guess i'm fine for now.

But eventually, i will have to go for Windows 10, but right now, Microsoft is asking too much for it

Forum Topic "Can i survive without leaving my Windows 7?"

KarmAngel submitter 1 point 2 days ago

Eventually. It's just... it's expensive. Microsoft is asking to much for a windows 10.

Dev_ZA's Completed Build: My $1K Budget Asus ROG Build

KarmAngel 2 points 16 days ago

I see your point. I thought that my country was bad, but a country in Africa, besides not having Amazon, it has to deal with a lot of taxes and transport fees.

In here, Portugal, although not having local Amazon ( it sucks a lot ), at least i can purchase on Amazon from Spain, France, Germany or Italy... Of course i deal with some taxes and some transport fees but not so bad when buying from UK or USA. And sometimes the tech shops from Portugal, actually have products more cheaper... It's a question to see the oportunities.

Feels bad man I don't know South Africa, must be a great country to live, but in regard to build a PC, it isn't that quite good :/

I really like your build, i hope to see on the future an update of this build :) Stay cool man and best regards from Portugal

Dev_ZA's Completed Build: My $1K Budget Asus ROG Build

KarmAngel 1 point 17 days ago

You know, your GTX 1070 can deliver much than 75 Hz. If you have the budget, i would go higher. But your budget is your budget and your taste is more important than mine.

For example, i give you 4 options. All the options have more than 100Hz refresh rate, 4ms or less response time and are choosen by the lest cost, within the type of conditions on each point:

  • If you want a 1080p monitor without caring about the type of panel or the type of refresh rate technology, you have the Acer XF270H Bbmiiprzx

  • Other guess, is a 1080p monitor, with all the type panels except TN panel, but without caring about the refresh rate technology, you have a Acer ED242QR Abidpx

  • But imagine you want more, a 1080p monitor, once again without caring about the type of panel, but you want G-sync on it, you have the Acer XB241H bmipr

  • And final example, a 1080p monitor, that has a better type of panel than TN panel and it has G-sync. Your bet would be Acer Z35 bmiphz

What you think? Of course, if you still don't want to, it's fine for me. I'm not to get mad XD I'm just to give my opinion and experience to favor your overall PC experience.

Nice work buddy :)

I also recommend a new monitor... HOLD UP! I know I know... You just bought it, but you have a 60 hz monitor. I think the best experience is to let your hardware unleash it's power by pushing as many frames as it can do, but for that, it would have been a great bet, an 1080p monitor with high refresh rate (like 100 Hz or more). Yes i read the future parts but i still think the monitor would be a top priority and then a new SSD or headphones)

Forum Topic "Racing Sim: 49 inch monitor or VR?"

KarmAngel submitter 1 point 24 days ago

I have a RTX 2080 TI. Resolution is not important at the moment, as i plan in the future, to have this monitor. As long as i can run this resolution at ultra and 144Hz, i'm totally fine. It's a VA panel but it's alright for now. Also, although it is a Freesync 2 monitor, i learned that i could use it with a Nvidia Gpu.

Budget isn't a problem cause it's a long way gaining money for this dream.

Forum Topic "PC slow and Blue screen of death"

My warranty is long gone. This laptop had many other problems that made me regret buying it in the first place.

And thanks for sharing ideas. I will add to my options when troubleshooting. :)

Forum Topic "PC slow and Blue screen of death"

KarmAngel submitter 1 point 1 month ago

Unfortunatelly, no... not yet.

Due to this problem be more and more persistent, i plan to make my dream build come to life more sooner than i expected. The reason is to have a storage that i can backup data before doing "surgery" to the laptop.

I also have pressed F8 (during the windows startup and went to an option that let the pc analyze my HDD, but it accused nothing).

Only when i get my build done, i will have the tools to do my troubleshooting

Forum Topic "PC slow and Blue screen of death"

KarmAngel submitter 1 point 1 month ago

Both of you, thanks ^_^

I will try this out, when i got more time than i usually have (probably, this all process will take maybe a day).

Saved on my favorites. Will troubleshoot this to get this laptop working properly again.

Forum Topic "PC slow and Blue screen of death"

KarmAngel submitter 1 point 1 month ago

No need to say sorry. I'm sorry for being so demotivator.

And yeah, nothing is lost. I still have high hopes of surpassing this issue.

Came across to the blue screen of death twice today, just to start windows

Forum Topic "PC slow and Blue screen of death"

KarmAngel submitter 1 point 1 month ago

Yeah, that would be my plan... but the last of last. I am expecting something and someone that had the experience to this problem before and actually knows how to deal with it.

If it has to end with a format on my computer, i will have to back up my data first and disable the discrete gpu again.

Thanks for the attention man. Being honest, i was expecting something to start troubleshooting but nonetheless, it's great at least have someone that cares and shares opinions.

This situation just sucks, really... Expecially this laptop! Since the first day, has always given me problems and as the time passes, the worst the problems are. What bad luck that i had to have...

I don't know man... Without shipping and VAT, it's a considerable difference on prices.

But the shipping and VAT probably will equalize the price from the shops around here...

This just sucks :(

A very nice ♥ +1

It came 2 questions to me

First) I'm also interested on the Corsair H100i RGB PLATINUM SE, but does require Corsair's commander pro or Lighting Node Pro, in order to have and control the RGB?

I know the pump has a micro usb to internal usb + a sata cable + a dual 4 pin headers to connect the two fans and i think it has also 2 rgb headers to connect to the cables from the two fans as well, am i right? I think with all of this, you can control rpm and rgb.

Second) Strange... Why did you bought an extender riser cable?

As i look on Thermaltake's P3 Snow Edition , they say there that "Versatile GPU & PSU Orientation - Show off your graphic card and power supply with our special design bracket. Core P3 TG has included a riser cable for you to choose the way you want to build the system. Further, the Core P3 also has the support for vertical PSU layout when ITX motherboard is applied." = So in my point of view, you wouldn't need a riser cable, since it's already included. Right?

Looking forward for your answers :)

Forum Topic "Gpu Temps"

KarmAngel 1 point 3 months ago

You welcome :) Glad i could help. I'm happy you could get to know your case even more with that experiment

Forum Topic "Gpu Temps"

KarmAngel 1 point 3 months ago

It would help considerably. I don't know if the dust filter is magnetic to the case or not, but if it it is, i would leave it on without the front case panel, so you can have the dust filter but not sacrificing the airflow. If it isn't a magnetic dust filter, but you regulary clean your pc, then yeah, taking the front panel is a good choice again. The only case for not removing the front panel is only for easy/light tasks, like web browsing or playing videos; but in video games, i would remove (if it was i having your case) and in the end of the game session, i would just put the front panel, back on it's place. You could benchmark, with and without the front panel, just to see the difference by yourself, so you could see at the same fan speed, how are the temps in both cases. In the best case, without the front panel, maybe the fans won't need to spin more than it should to keep the temps cool, giving more longevity to your case fans and other components as well (because of being more cold) and also reducing the power consume (= less electricity spend + some money saving)

Forum Topic "Gpu Temps"

KarmAngel 1 point 3 months ago

By the time you do such upgrade, consider a more ventilated case (along with other features that you may also want). That or a custom watercooled system if you are up to

I got admit, NZXT cases, they look really good but the ventilation it's what scares me the most.

Forum Topic "Gpu Temps"

KarmAngel 1 point 3 months ago

That's nice to hear. Well, if it keeps that temps, it's no alarming, but around 85's and more, that's when i would concern.

Whatever suits you most ;) I had an eye for that PC as well, but the front intake scared me away for seeking others.

But yeah, 70 ºC is great for the case, nothing to worry about. Have you tried to overclock or planning to overclock?

I read your build but didn't found an info about it.

Forum Topic "Gpu Temps"

KarmAngel 1 point 3 months ago

GPU at 70 ºC it's fine, considering that you are intaking on that radiator and that you have a NZXT S340 Elite (a case with a poor front intake).

I was about to say Hey, you should exhaust with the radiator instead. That would improve the temps even more but forget... it's for the same reason... Poor front intake.
