Based on a lot of positive reviews, I would go with Acer G257HU. 25" IPS 1440p 60Hz at $250

You can YouTube search for this monitor and basically everyone will tell you the same thing, it looks phenomenal and worth the price. The only major downsides are the speakers and stand, but you can always get yourself a good set of speakers anyway. Besides, you are buying the monitor for its picture quality and/or refresh rate quality, not for its sound.

That's a good looking motherboard, I'm assuming that one in particular has the reinforced slots you mentioned?

The Acer predator 27in xb271hu does appear to look more like what I'm looking for. A bit pricier than I'd had hoped, but I may end up going for that, if the quality is there.
