I'm hoping the release of the 300 series reduces the price of the 200 series, so i can pick one up.

This GPU runs Minecraft nicely, smite and skylines are not the most graphically intense games, where this budget GPU really shines is in EvE online, with it's insanely large texture files.

If you don't need hyperthreading, why didn't you go AMD? Higher clock speeds generally, and lower price.

That RAM is a dual-channel kit, so it runs at half-speed to conserve energy. That's what I have learned anyway.

WHy the Core i7 4790S? For 30 more bucks the 4790k would give you much better performance.

You will want to upgrade to a i7 4770k or 4790k. for the small premium on the 4790k and the 500 MHz speed increase I think it's a good choice.

If you are going to upgrade to an aftermarket cooler, I would recommend the Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO. It's the best value air cooler out there, and it's only 30 bucks. Also, OC is possible on stock cooler. I have my FX-4300 OC'd to 4.3 GHz on stock cooler, and rarely go over 60 C.

Temps are good actually, around 50 during gaming. i tried 4.4 GHz, but crashed. :( Lots of processors are OCable on the stock cooler, especially Intel, because of low heat output. AMD may not be the best in terms of heat output, but their stock coolers are the best. Not that stock coolers are good though.

I think Intel is overpriced, but has good performance. AMD should step up their game in ters of power consumption and hyper-threading, I chose AMD for this build because it has a very nice price/performance ratio.

On reddit you can get windows 7 for 10 bucks. windows 8 and 8.1 for 20. also, a good video card for ~150 is the Gigabyte Radeon R9 270 windforce. windforce is a really nice cooling design, and its one of the best amd-based chipsets out there. its an r9 for 150 bucks. it is also crossfire capable so if you want to add another one you can. whats not to love. https://pcpartpicker.com/part/gigabyte-video-card-gvr927oc2gd

HP laptop logic says your system can run at 100 c, but if you let it idle at 30 c, it will thermally shut down. GREAT SUCCESS!!!!

I have the Ares 1600 MHz picked out because I am doing a budget build and 1866 MHz is not really that much better than 1600 MHz. I might get the 1866 anyway because of the cool looking heat spreader.

in this PC you might want to upgrade the Mobo and the CPU to AM3+ compatibility, and the FX-Series CPUs. If you have a dedicated GPU, integrated graphics doesn't serve much purpose. good build though. +1

Yeah, I got a similar model of motherboard from ASUS, from the same line of products actually. I also had trouble with the I/O shield. I fiddled with it and I eventually got it into place. Also, thanks for the review on the memory. I was thinking of getting it for the low price compared to some other brands.

Nothing against Intel, they make good products, but an overclock of .3 GHz on an AMD FX-9590 would bring it to 5.0 GHz. no joke.
