Forum Topic "Wiping HDDs"

Warlock 1 point 12 hours ago

I want to completely wipe the 2 drives ... I have a computer I could plug them into ...

Install the "2 drives" into that "computer"
Use software of your choice to erase/overwrite the "2 drives"
e.g. DBAN
DBAN tutorial: Lifewire

As a precaution, disconnect all drives that is not the "2 drives" before use of DBAN.
WARNING: It can take hours for DBAN to complete depending on selections that you choose.

If you are only concerned about the "very few files"
You can skip "to completely wipe the 2 drives" and just use software such as Eraser.

Try other anti-malware software until you get rid of it.

In terms of value, solid state drive(s) with SATA would be more than sufficient.
Use of NVME would be a waste, unless dealing with large files frequently. e.g. video editing.

Forum Topic "SSD is not recognizable by Windows 10 or BIOS."

Warlock 1 point 2 months ago

If the BIOS fails to recognize the SSD, then it is likely dead.
Since you have already ruled out SATA data cable as source of the problem,
You can try connecting it to another SATA port on your mobo.

Forum Topic "SSD cable names"

Warlock 2 points 2 months ago

As already mentioned by powderedonutsale,
You will need a SATA data cable and a SATA power connector from your power supply, unless it's ancient.
