Informal would probably be like Theodore Roosevelt, and formal would be like Eisenhower when he was in the military (officer attire).

Seeing as I’m not in the military, I’ve got a long way to go before this idea pans out.

I have a lot of remakes on the DS that I like to play: various Legend of Zelda games, FFIII, FFIV, and Chrono Trigger. I also have a PS2 and a PS3 that I play many old games on. (Currently going through the original FFVII on the PS3. Ruby Weapon is insane.) For NES/SNES titles that I don’t have remakes for, I have both the NES and SNES Classics. You can get many old games on Steam and mobile devices; I personally have FFV on iOS. After my FFVII playthrough, I’m going to play FFIX, and then I may end up buying the Collection of Mana for the Switch if I have nothing else to do.

I always prefer to use hardware instead of emulation, so long as there is a reasonable way to do so.

“Who or what are stormtroopers? Are they robots or androids or some race of beings or what?”

The canon is too inconsistent for me to really tell you where the people came from, but there’s some interesting inspiration for the name. I suppose George Lucas really wanted to make them out to be the bad guys.

He repeatedly violated the terms of service and he shouldn’t be allowed back on. Theft, assault, and worse are not suddenly acceptable because someone is famous or doing it for an audience.

“My favorite was the side quest to empower the masamune.”

This was honestly genius story writing. You collect the and charge the legendary sword, you piece together what seems like the final team, and then you go on a campaign to fight the creator of evil in the world. It seemed like time for the final boss, and it really could have been! To think that was only half of the game still amazes me.

“great theme song”

The game really did have an unparalleled soundtrack.

Many of the Final Fantasy games. I can always play FFIV and I’ll play FFX if I’m not too lazy to setup the PS2. Though, that isn’t much of a problem anymore since I found out my PS3 is backwards compatible with both PS2 and PS1 games.

I quite like Chrono Trigger. Strategy-wise, Robo’s probably my favorite too (and obviously Chrono). Story-wise, Frog is my favorite of the bunch, he’s got a great story and a nice musical theme to go with.

Spoilers for Chrono Trigger: Recently, I found out that most people opt out of the climactic duel with Magus. To me, this seems like a tragedy as it was one of the best moments of the entire game. Any thoughts, man?

An insurmountable difference in values.

“Neither does the UK. What point are you trying to make?”

That I don’t want to live there because I appreciate American governmental systems. Continuing the logical train would suggest I wouldn’t want to live in the UK either, and that is true.

“By the way, it's ok that America isn't the best country on earth. It doesn't have to be, and that's fine.”

You don’t have to agree with me believing it is. I do appreciate this though.

I’ve never seen anyone take up the Nordic/Scandinavia argument and then come to any other opinion when opposed: I feel argument is a hopeless struggle here.

As to why I’d never want to live in Scandinavia comes down mostly to the fact that America exists.

  • Not a fan of the Scandinavian healthcare system.
  • Sweden doesn’t have the American government systems.
  • Rights in countries other than America are typically laws, government given. The American rights are given by God.
  • I find happiness in America, and our production+research is far superior to any other.
  • While we’re at it, the American military is the best in the world. I feel pretty safe with that.
  • American crime rates are really only bad in the major cities. Moreover, some of these cities have reducing crime rates over time.
  • To be honest, I prefer the geographic landmarks of America to those found elsewhere.
  • A lot of cool tech companies are built here.
  • I do feel that I can have a greater sense of wealth in the US.
  • It’s a huge country in terms of land area. I can live in almost any environment I want.

That can go a lot of ways, but I’ll tell you a few of the ones I liked and you tell me if I’m going in the right direction.

I remember a few years ago when I was 12-13, one of my favorites was this series called Gregor the Overlander. It may not be the most popular out there, but it had quite an interesting hidden fantasy world, which is called the Underland. - Who would have guessed? - the protagonist and his little sister, who’s names escape me, are just sort of going about their lives in their home. But through a freak accident they somehow become trapped in a subterranean world full of humans and sentient, oversized bugs and animals. The main goal of the protagonist is to get back to home to his mother, but along the way he realizes he must do it by going deep into the lands of the rats. Five book series, I quite liked it.

Another series I liked was Artemis Fowl. It was about the eponymous genius teen who finds the highly-advanced society of fairies. So what does he do? He makes a mad dash for their gold and essentially cons them out of it to fuel his dreams of wealth. (My friends and I always valued intelligence very highly.) I don’t remember too much about the sequels because it was something like a nine book series: they were all fairly good, but the first and last were probably the best.

I also picked up a couple of James Dashner’s series. One was the Maze Runner, which I actually started about a month before the movie came out. It was a three book series that also had a prequel. It’s been reviewed to the moon and back, so I won’t bother you too much about it. The second I read sounds a bit like Ready Player One. It wasn’t that, but I think it to be a bit similar. It was the Mortality Doctrine series which started with the Eye of Minds. I’m not sure I’d recommend this one anymore; James Dashner was a great author, but the virtual reality setting might honestly make you cringe. I didn’t know much about computers back then, so it was easy to accept whatever was being said, but nowadays I might end up raising some complaints.

Obviously, I’d recommend finding better non-spoiler synopses online and if you find one you like, probably buy the first book first so you can definitely know if you like the series. Also, if these kind of books aren’t your jam, let me know, man!

“Better at what?”

That’s a deep question. I suppose simply it would be: what country is better than America for purposes of life, government, and stability? Overall, there has to be one country that’s the best, right? Back ~2000 years ago we would likely declare it as Rome, 1850 would probably be Britain, but what would today be?
