It'll fit but don't try a 140mm radiator if you ever go with an AIO
Its gotten a lot better with AMDs great driver updates over the past few months now. Its on par with the 1060 in most games now, crushes it in DX12 and its gonna be a whole lot more future proof with AMDs FineWine TM tech ahah.
Yeah man its a great card, all I play at the moment are Dota 2 and BF1 which it handles at both maxed out settings at 1440p over 75FPS (I am for this since my monitor is OC'd to 75Hz).
No regrets buying it. It is a little noisy with the default clocks and voltages but I have been able to undervolt the card to where its not much of an issue anymore.
Yeah it doesn't include the semi passive mode thats supposed to help stop the clicking noise of the fan motor when it starts up.
Do you have the V1.0 or V2.0? There should be a sticker you can see on the unit itself or the box.
Nice, but I wouldn't recommend using the DSR feature as it wont make too much of a visual difference and it will be more difficult to render at 144fps.
The monitor is pretty good, nice colors since its IPS and it can OC to 75Hz easy. I am tempted to replace it with a 21:9 FreeSync monitor though.
Witcher 3 1440p settings on high with AA with no hairworks - 50-60 fps
BF4 1440p settings maxed - about 70 fps
Rocket league 1440p maxed about 120+
GTA 1440p with most settings on high gets around 70 fps
I'd say its decent for 1440p gaming at 60fps if you are willing to just slightly turn down some settings like shadows to get there.
The temps in this thing are pretty strange, but not terrible. Ive set the power limit of the card to +50% which stops the card from throttling. And set minimum fan speed to 2200 (inaudible) and max to 2700 (Can hear while PC is muted but not in gameplay). I've set the state 7 frequency to 1300 and memory to 2200Mhz.
Heres where it gets weird, at idle I can have 27C and another day it can be 50C. Ive seen this reported with other users and it seems to be some strange driver issue that pegs the core clock higher than it needs to be under certain conditions.
Under full load though it gets to around 84C. Never been over that. So nothing to complain about at load. Just hope the idle temp issue gets sorted sometime. Though its not a huge issue.
This is all with my i5 at 4.5Ghz 24/7. But that never goes over 50C anyway.
Yep, the 1060 is about $50 more expensive than the RX 480 here. Plus none of the models in stock in NZ dont even fit in my case. I just jumped on the reference RX 480 since I couldn't be bothered waiting any longer. Really happy with it though!
Hows your power supply? I have the same one and it makes terrible clicking noises.
Thanks! And yeah he's pretty cool, got him from the Pokemon Center in Tokyo
I am tempted to get one and get an LG 29UM68-P to go with it for free-sync. But if I was to get a 480 it would be a non-reference
