Yeah. That's exactly what I've been saying too. I just suddenly got this urge. Think I'm going to wait now though.

I usually play the most demanding games there are. I've been playing Odyssey like crazy and has been great, but it will dip into the low 40's from time to time at some pretty annoying moments.

I understand your point -- hundreds of dollars for a few more frames. It does seem pretty silly, but I do put a lot of time into playing games.

I guess the real question is: how much longer will the 1070 be viable for 1440p ultra gaming for demanding titles.

Action RPGs are some of my favorite. A nice way to unwind and zone out (tune in and drop out) for an hour or so just exploring, completing quests, playing a GREAT combat system, and enjoy the beautiful graphics, which are the best in the biz. I never go for the ultimate or gold packages, unless you're die hard, which I don't get the feeling you are.

Anyways, Titanfall 2 was a great, quick FPS and was loads of fun. Maybe try that as well.

You got bored with DOOM? I'd give it another go -- try completing all the challenges and achievements and finding secrets. That's good fun.

Other than that, I'd definitely get AC:Odyssey if you're looking for an in-depth single player game with top-notch graphics. I play it 1440p on mostly ultra with a 8700k and gtx 1070 and it's stunning. It'll take you a while to complete, but I usually do 1 hour sessions. It has kept me busy and not bored for a while. Your 60 bucks will go a long way for sure.

Also, if you have a 1080ti, put the android down! You have something much better.

I have actually. My temps never get that high at all. The CPU hits around 60 Celsius and the GPU around 68 Celsius under load. The case comes with two fans, one pre-installed to the exhaust and the other to the front. You'll want to move the front one to the top of the case near the back. AIO goes on the front. Heat rises so those two fans on the back and top seem to push the hot air out quickly while the AIO cools from the front. It works well for me and I would recommend.

You can't always blame the hardware. Games are just sometimes not well optimized. I play Odyssey myself on a 1070 with 1440p res. I had to turn down AA and volumetric clouds, both to medium. Everything else is maxed. I get an average of 60fps, but of course in some areas it'll dip to 40, but it doesn't stay there long. It certainly doesn't take away from gameplay. Some settings, like the volumetric clouds, doesn't do anything but hurt fps, whatever GPU you have. Now, if you're getting constant 40 fps, then I'd be concerned.

Try turning Anti-aliasing down and volumetric clouds to medium on Odyssey. It doesn't look any different.

I actually use separate software for each one. Though it's not as cumbersome as it sounds.

RAM - I leave the RAM alone. I do not use software to control it. It runs thr3ough several different colors and looks great.

AIO - I use CAM software which works nicely. I alternate Orange and Blue on AIO for my theme.

MOBO - I have this turned to orange by using the Gigabyte Fusion which is in the BIOS. Not really a software you download but something built into the BIOS config.

Hope this helps! Sorry for getting back so late.

I just upgraded from an 8350 as well to the 8700k. It's a pretty big difference, but I feel like in the years to come, the difference will be huge. The 8350 doesn't have a whole lot longer of a life span for gaming and other uses. Nice build! The Meshify C is a great case. +1

Funny you ask. I had the same question from my last build post. It’s called the Limble II. I bought it from Office Depot 4 years ago. All I know about it. I do plan to eventually move the PC down on the lowest tier (where it’s supposed to be), but I’m really enjoying looking at it right now. Thanks for the comment!

Which fan headers did you use to plug in the kraken? Did you just use the CPU_FAN and then the daisy chain? Or did you plug the pump into the FAN_PUMP header and the rad fans in the CPU_FAN and CPU-OPT? Thanks!

Wow. Great build. I am actually doing an almost exact one in a few days. How was installing the kraken? Was it difficult? Did you need a USB hub for hooking it up?

Also, a question about fan headers: I was planning on using the CPU_FAN and CPU_OPT for the radiator fans and then the SYS_FAN_PUMP for the pump. Which ones did you use for the pump and the radiator fans?

Did you try to transfer/install any old HDD's you had from your old build? What, if any, sort of problems did you run into coming from an old build to this one? I am building a new one right now. My first build is 4 years old, and I sort of cheaped out on that one also, though I didn't on the new one! Thanks.

I am planning to build a very similar PC soon. I am, however, getting the Gigabyte Gaming 5 -- not the 7. Do you know the difference?

Also, I plan to get the Kraken X62 as well. It will be my first water cooled PC, as my first build I have been using has a Hyper 212 EVO. Was the X62 difficult to install? Will I need a USB hub for extra USB ports?

Thanks!

So should I go with the M.2 type? This is new to me since they weren't around when I built mine 4 years ago. The M.2 does seem a lot easier to install and I can spend a few extra bucks for it if it's worth it.

Thank you! Yes, I am wanting more RGB build so that helps. I meant to add in the OP that I wanted some suggestions for RAM, so thanks for that too. I will probably go with that. I also really like that case you have.

I have a Gigabyte board right now and it's been great for these 4 years, though I have heard that about them. Will look into it.

Oh, lemme tell you - took me about 45 minutes to figure that out, such a pain. I forgot now exactly how I lined it up, but I just kept fiddling and eventually got it right. You have to play around with the screws: you can push them in and slide them up or down to get it to line up. Out of the box, it seems to naturally go in the way you have it, but you can definitely turn it.

Yeah I recently used it. Doesn't take long for the turn around and you'll get it pretty fast, though it is contingent upon availability and the 900 series is in high demand right now. Nonetheless, it's a great system. If I were you, I'd get all I can out of the 770 and save up for about 2-3 months and then step-up.

Ok, so I just ran cs:go offline with no bots and am getting average of 240 fps and a high of 305 - no stutter. Valley benchmarks around 45 average fps. Could it simply be my modem/internet? Ha. When I run cs:go online, average of around 115 fps with a stutter every time someone respawns or an AWP goes off.

He has the same PSU. The more I think about it, this has to be a software/driver problem. I just built this pc about 4 months ago and everything was going perfectly, until I left it off for about 3 weeks waiting for the EVGA step-up to send me the gtx 770. Do you think reinstalling windows would be a good option?

Everything else runs fine, except games (stutters; lower - yet easily playable - fps). It just has to be software or the new drivers. I can't see it being a hardware issue.
