Nice build. I have the same case. Well done.
Consider synergy. It lets you share a mouse and keyboard on OS X, Windows, and Linux. I use it at work and home. Tremendous program.
Windows 7 is not compatible with the drive out of the box. What you have to do is first install Win7 on your HDD. I don't know if it was just me, but in order to install windows on a disk, the target disk has to be the only disk connected to your mobo. Even though Win7 doesn't recognize the 950, I would only get errors when trying to install with multiple drives connected.
Any who, once you've installed the OS, boot in to it as normal and install the drivers for your SSD. Then you can download Samsung's Data Migration software which will copy everything to your SSD. Afterwards, I restarted the computer and made sure to boot in to the SSD and I formatted the HDD to get rid of everything on it and use it as my secondary drive. You should be good to go.
Linus has a good video here on setting up a secondary drive as storage drive that helped me get going.
Best of luck!
Is this something designed specifically and only for NZXT cases? I'd like to put this in a Fractal Design S w/ Window but fear running out of cable.
Any recommendations as to a better brand of static pressure PWM fans?
What are you overclocking the cpu to? And how cool is it under load with that cooler?
any particular reason for the 1866 Memory?
No OS, but it will need a Wi-Fi Card!
Compromise? I was thinking mATX for the sake of my lack of need for expansion. Are there really any other compromises?
Could you shed some light on ATX vs mATX mobos? What about nvidia vs amd graphics? A lot people have pushed me towards Nvidia.
This build is pretty much maxing out my budget, so if I won't get the most out of the 1440, I'll stick to a 1080 display. I'll admit, I was looking for a budget 960 at the time of choosing this one. I think I'll look for a solid 2GB card. And could you shed some more light on the PSU. Like I mentioned, I only made my decision based off the estimated wattage and nothing else.
As far as the color goes, I like purple and red, so I thought it might make for a good color scheme. If it doesn't come out good, I'll probably switch them out for red fans.
