so the myth that the NVME SSD is faster for real world usage gets thrown out of the window again

and OS boot up time, launching games and programs between the SATA SSD and NVME made no difference

i am really curious what are the temps for this 64 core beast?

do you think a huge air cooler like the Cooler Master Wraith Ripper be able to keep this beast cool?

Or i really have to go AIO?

I have bad experience with AIO that fried my PC coz the pump failed.

Constant overvolting and running hot do shortern the lifespan of the CPU.

Also other components like the VRM have to work hard as well.

Liquid nitrogen overclocking basically is killing the CPU. First with the extreme voltages and the heat shock from the extreme temperatures. So it not surprising to see the CPU after the overclocking contest are half dead or dead cpus.

Comment reply on Forum Topic "PC Randomly shuts off when gaming"

  • 1 point

make sure you have the latest drivers and BIOS

but from the looks of it.

the shutdown happens when the PC starts drawing high wattage from the PSU and the over-current protection kicks in.

run the PC without the side panels and set all fans to full blast. See if the PCs crashes in Unigine or Furmark. for testing CPU, you can use AIDA64

get ready a spare higher wattage PSU if you need to confirm about the PSU issue

while the Ryzen 3000 series CPU supports PCI-E 4.0

B350, B450 and X470 boards which previously allowed PCI-E 4.0 to work on slot have the PCI-E 4.0 disabled with new BIOS revision with the AGESA 1.0.0.4 update.

most of the time the separate wifi adapter and the mobo in build wifi shares the same chip from Realtek or Broadcom

and because the mobo manufacturer buys the wifi chip in bulk. They can add the wifi to a board for almost no extra cost.

and you save a PCI-E slot if you go the mobo with wifi route

it as it says one of the SATA port will be disabled

some motherboard have limited bandwidth for all the devices so for example SATA ports get disable when you put a M.2 NVME drive.

https://www.guru3d.com/files-details/display-driver-uninstaller-download.html

try this program to uninstall the GPU drivers,

my suggestion

enable the Intel onboard graphics, disable the nVidia card and try to do the uninstall of the driver

reboot a few times, then use CCleaner to remove any unwanted files from the uninstall

then download the latest nVidia driver, then reboot with the display back to the GPU

to add on custom water cooling can be hard to maintain and i believed only one shop in Singapore carries the EK water cooling parts so the shop will charge high price for it.

keep it simple if you want the system to last long

3.5K is doable with the Ryzen 9 3900X, 32GB RAM, RTX 2080 Super something those line

so you currently have the Ryzen 2600X rig

the 2070 Super should be plenty for 1080P 240Hz gaming

i cant see any reason why it cant drive 144Hz

your only bottleneck here will be your screen unless you upgrade to 1440P 144Hz monitor

its a little over 300 dollars but the Athlon 3000G with 2 cores and 4 treads is plenty fast for Sims 4. I will be mind blown if the 3000G cant run Sims 4 at full details 1080P

500GB storage will be more than enough for her stuffs and if she needs more storage, she can add a HDD later down the road.

I used the B350 version of the board i have choosen. No frills and supports later CPU upgrades
