kyle2018kyle's Completed Build: Cheap and speedy

eopest 9 Builds 1 point 22 days ago

New Egg has the incorrect open-side pic for the system listed; I just noticed that! I agree that getting a refurb office PC and adding a decent card to it might be a way to go though.

PatrickMc's Completed Build: My Workstation

eopest 9 Builds 1 point 22 days ago

Yeah... had the same problem building in a case with no cable management. Here you go, feel free to borrow anything I tried. I still have the case; I moved the build to a different case to upgrade the airflow.

PatrickMc's Completed Build: My Workstation

eopest 9 Builds 1 point 22 days ago

Yep. It also means an excellent foundation to upgrade the rest of the system with. :)

PatrickMc's Completed Build: My Workstation

eopest 9 Builds 1 point 22 days ago

Nice to be able to drop a 2700 into it if he needs the extra threads... :)

eopest's Completed Build: Something Borrowed, Version 2.5 - The Ultimate Upgrade..?

eopest submitter 9 Builds 1 point 22 days ago

Well... I moved my FX-8320 to this build as well, and it makes a good combo with the 1050 Ti (the bump to 4GB of VRAM made running World of Tanks on medium a lot smoother, with framerates in the 90+ range) for the things I do and play. I have an Athlon X2 6000 that the 7850 might end up with as a retro game box. It's not going away just yet. :)

eopest's Completed Build: Something Borrowed, Version 2.5 - The Ultimate Upgrade..?

eopest submitter 9 Builds 1 point 27 days ago

I need to update the list, it has a 1050 Ti in it now.

eopest's Completed Build: Retiring my FX workhorse..!

eopest submitter 9 Builds 1 point 2 months ago

Rock solid, quiet, has handled everything I've thrown at it. I'm gonna up the RAM now that prices have dropped, and save for a 1070 and a NVMe M.2 and after that I will be set for a while.

thoragh's Completed Build: AMD RGB mid budget gaming build

eopest 9 Builds 1 point 3 months ago

More pics, and maybe some cable management before the CMP (Cable Management Patrol) show up...

AurelPC's Completed Build: E-machines Ryzen 3 2200G

eopest 9 Builds 1 point 3 months ago

I'm surprised that e-machines case has the airflow for a modern cpu. Love the cable management (even though there's no window) with the looms. Only thing I could see that might be sketchy is that old p/s; who knows when it'll give up the ghost? Otherwise, I like the build. +1

peacewalker345's Completed Build: Black AMD build - November 2018

eopest 9 Builds 1 point 3 months ago

Nice, very nice. I used a Pure Rock for my build; big mistake, it can only be installed horizontally on an AM4 socket. Otherwise, I like the look.

Juzam's Completed Build: Windows XP Gaming PC

eopest 9 Builds 1 point 3 months ago

Are there any BF2:SF servers still out there? OMG!

cheeseandcereal's Completed Build: 126TB NAS + Proxmox Virtualization Server

eopest 9 Builds 1 point 3 months ago

This is way-over-my-head-next-level stuff. The only thing I know for sure is that you managed to get all of Noctua's ugliest fans into the same build at one time. +1 :)

cheeseandcereal's Completed Build: 126TB NAS + Proxmox Virtualization Server

eopest 9 Builds 2 points 3 months ago

Not a gaming rig, dude. It's a server. -_-

cheeseandcereal's Completed Build: 126TB NAS + Proxmox Virtualization Server

eopest 9 Builds 2 points 3 months ago

Yeah... but you're strange. ;)

Lohk22's Completed Build: My AMD Rebuild into The Tower 900

eopest 9 Builds 1 point 3 months ago

Oh, ok. I was thinking they might be a NAS or a Hot Swap Mobile Rack Backplane because of the bay covers.

eopest's Completed Build: Retiring my FX workhorse..!

eopest submitter 9 Builds 2 points 3 months ago

Yeah, I did before the run. I have no idea why the speed shows up that way.

DChar96's Completed Build: Threadripper 2 Graphic Design and Video Editing Rig

eopest 9 Builds 2 points 4 months ago

"Excuse me ma'am, I got a call to crush workloads. Could you direct me to the correct floor, please?" said the the modest, powerful system to the AI receptionist...

Nice. Very nice system, Clean and to the point. I like it.

chicoready's Completed Build: Chicoready Gaming Rig

eopest 9 Builds 1 point 4 months ago

The stock cooler is fine if you're only gonna OC it a little; it's better than the stock Intel hsf by a mile. You don't have to go with an AIO to OC a 2600 and keep it quiet; I went with a be quiet PURE ROCK air cooler for mine.

wonkyjon's Completed Build: Overkill Office PC

eopest 9 Builds 2 points 4 months ago

I like that the wiring got cleaner as the build evolved. :)

stankb0t's Completed Build: Ryzen Begins to Shine - A full fat AMD build

eopest 9 Builds 2 points 4 months ago

Wow, stuff seems expensive Down Under! (You don't corner Cyborg, Cyborg corners you. ;) ) Interesting that the G.Skill isn't on the compatibility list, as I'm running 8GB of Ripjaws 4 in my 2600 build and it's been running fine on the XMP profile. Not directly comparable, I know, but the whole point of waiting for the updated Ryzen chips (for me, anyway) was to get access to more RAM sets. Still, nice build!

Lohk22's Completed Build: My AMD Rebuild into The Tower 900

eopest 9 Builds 5 points 4 months ago

I can see some things not on the parts list; that Thermaltake fancontroller: that Silverstone NAS (or hotswap bays, hard to tell); the fittings, waterblocks, rads, etc. What's their story? Why are they there? Why the cream-colored fluid instead of something more (or less) contrast-y? I spent 8+ years as a slot machine tech and 7 more as an IT tech; if you didn't document it, you didn't buy it, install it, or do it. It's an interesting-looking build, people are gonna wanna know these things... :)

Nembourgh's Completed Build: White knight

eopest 9 Builds 1 point 4 months ago

I used this same board for my upgrade build; how do you like yours so far?

ThoughtA's Build Guide: Great AMD Gaming Build

eopest 9 Builds 1 point 4 months ago

Don't know why you say that, my SPEC-02 upgrade cabling worked out just fine.

ThoughtA's Build Guide: Great AMD Gaming Build

eopest 9 Builds 1 point 4 months ago

I upgraded my SPEC-02 to a Ryzen R5-2600 a month ago... Take a look here and see if it'll work for you.

Qufy's Completed Build: My first custom built PC

eopest 9 Builds 1 point 4 months ago

Yours is a lot like mine except I used a newer MB.

Tycoll's Completed Build: Ryzen Rig

eopest 9 Builds 1 point 4 months ago

RAM prices are still kinda crazy (AFAIC), so I went a little differently with my build. Still, I like how you thought; how long ago did you actually start the build?

TheKingOfHardcore's Completed Build: Good Moderate Gaming/School Work Computer

eopest 9 Builds 6 points 4 months ago

Like the specs and description, but your pics could use some work. Come on, put some effort into showing off your handiwork!

kbracing6's Completed Build: My 2018 Gaming Rig..

eopest 9 Builds 1 point 4 months ago

Nice specs, but needs more pics and a description. Maybe like this?

AndysPizza's Completed Build: Over Night Overkill

eopest 9 Builds 2 points 5 months ago

I think this system will be just fine for a few years, numbers or no numbers. +1

GQ_Gamer's Completed Build: First Build

eopest 9 Builds 4 points 5 months ago

That's because he bought a server-class HD made for always-on, constant read/ write ops. I can't wait until your build posts so I can comment on it.

theJRUHL's Completed Build: Gaming build from 2014 updated- FX8320, 16gb DDR3, 1070GTX OC, NZXT h500i, X52 Kraken

eopest 9 Builds 3 points 5 months ago

Ah... I didn't see your comment until after I refreshed the page. I agree completely; I did exactly that with one of my old FX builds and made it a lot better. I think most of the nitpick will be about the AIO being upside down though.

theJRUHL's Completed Build: Gaming build from 2014 updated- FX8320, 16gb DDR3, 1070GTX OC, NZXT h500i, X52 Kraken

eopest 9 Builds 1 point 5 months ago

I still get a lot of use out of my 8320, but I think that 1070 is a little too much card for that chip. Same with the AIO. You planning to upgrade to a Ryzen or 8700k? Might not be a bad idea...

Frimpy2's Completed Build: AMD Ryzen 5 2600x Build, Black and white

eopest 9 Builds 1 point 5 months ago

Here's my 2600 with the AMD logo clocked correctly (pics 6,7,10 and 11); the screw heads on the shroud are soft and the screws are tight and were so easy to strip that I don't think it was worth the effort.

Frimpy2's Completed Build: AMD Ryzen 5 2600x Build, Black and white

eopest 9 Builds 1 point 5 months ago

You can clock the logo, but the shroud screws are soft and the heads are easy to strip. :( (From personal experience...)

ReeceX's Completed Build: Matt's Build

eopest 9 Builds 2 points 5 months ago

Considering you were on a budget, this is an ok build, but... Ryzen runs better with faster RAM; DDR4-2666 would have been $10 more but 10% or so faster game performance. A 240 - 250GB SSD would have room for more games and the swap file; Frys had the 250GB 860 Evo (Samsung) on sale for $48 this week (well, with the promo code). And you have a MasterBox Lite for a case, so the cable management could be better (here's a build in a worse case but better cabling); if you're gonna have a window, you should clean up the wires. My R5-2600 isn't the best looking, and I reused a bunch of stuff (I upgraded an older build), but it's what I'm talking about as a minimum standard. Especially if you're building it for someone else.

ReeceX's Completed Build: Matt's Build

eopest 9 Builds 3 points 5 months ago

Stop trolling and be constructive, say why the RAM needs an upgrade (or overclock). Jeez.

oxz's Completed Build: Hybrid Passive Gaming PC

eopest 9 Builds 2 points 5 months ago

Sorry, dude, needs inside pics to be believable...

twsahyoun's Completed Build: UFO

eopest 9 Builds 2 points 5 months ago

I dunno... I'd be more impressed if you got all the spacecraft outta Area 51, not just the one you liked best... ;)

Electromaster232's Completed Build: Gaming/Editing Build

eopest 9 Builds 1 point 5 months ago

I second Otterman366's comment about the RAM; check your motherboard manual to be sure, but I think you have both RAM sticks on the same channel. Also, if you're gonna sit the system on the carpet, flip the power supply so that the fan is pulling air from inside the case and not trying to suck carpet fibers thru the case filter under the box. Other than that, not a bad build. :)

Gooberdad's Completed Build: Dead to life; E for Excellence, emachines et1831-07

eopest 9 Builds 1 point 5 months ago

My bad... I put in the wrong link for the upgrade. This is before, this is after the Ryzen install.

eopest's Completed Build: In ancient days, when we were beige...

eopest submitter 9 Builds 1 point 5 months ago

Oops... wrong system! This is the one I updated to Ryzen.

Hakuryx's Completed Build: FrankenPC Using Parts from Friends and Random bits from shops

eopest 9 Builds 1 point 5 months ago

Better, although some of that wiring could go behind the motherboard. My workbench is just as messy though while building. :)

Gooberdad's Completed Build: Dead to life; E for Excellence, emachines et1831-07

eopest 9 Builds 1 point 5 months ago

If someone broke into your friend's house, they wouldn't steal this thing, they'd throw it in the dumpster for him. OMG, an Emachines box? And an ECS motherboard? I better never hear any smack about my old beige box with its ABIT motherboard; at least mine can run a browser and SETI. At the same time. On another note: I didn't know you were unvotified! Sorry to hear that, I just got a new upgrade posted, wanted to see what you thought.

dasauceboss's Completed Build: Under $500 AMD FX mish-mash of inherited and purchased parts

eopest 9 Builds 1 point 6 months ago

I already had it. For 4 or 5 years now. That's why it was spare parts. :)

Rustez's Completed Build: Editing work station

eopest 9 Builds 1 point 6 months ago

Not my build, dude. Just pointing out what's on the box.

LiquidArrogance's Completed Build: Kermit Farted

eopest 9 Builds 1 point 6 months ago

It's not easy bleeding green... ;) Nice sleeving job.

dasauceboss's Completed Build: Under $500 AMD FX mish-mash of inherited and purchased parts

eopest 9 Builds 2 points 6 months ago

There's still some life left in the FX-8xxx chips; my everyday box is an FX-8120 spare parts machine and it flies with a Linux distro on it.

NitramX's Completed Build: Shadow Thunder

eopest 9 Builds 2 points 6 months ago

Here's an FX spare parts build for nostalgia's sake, then ;)

NitramX's Completed Build: Shadow Thunder

eopest 9 Builds 2 points 6 months ago

Yes, it will. Just did a Ryzen upgrade on one of my FX boxes. :D

NitramX's Completed Build: Shadow Thunder

eopest 9 Builds 1 point 6 months ago

I've gotten 4+ years out of my FX.
