Nice. Never seen that case before, how did you happen across it? The internals are all in such odd places.
Yeah, you're right on that. This build can handle the 1080, but I lose 5-15 frames (only when getting >100 fps, anyway) compared to more recent cpus according to benchmarks. Figured that would still be better (and cheaper) than getting a 1070 and going 8th gen, and it is.
I have a wi-fi card that blocks one of the fans, so my temps aren't exactly normal, but they're quite high in general (I force the fans to go 20-30% slower, they do get quite loud, about as much as my old 7970). I play OW at 144hz most of the time, and without radeon chill on, it sits around 78 most of the time. With chill on (120 fps min) I see around 70 with the fans set back to their defaults.
ty, noted; I always thought the efficiency only made a difference if you were pushing the top 10% of what it can do.
I guess calling it a 'loved' build, past-tense, is pretty sad. I'll think of a better name, then.
Yeah, fair enough. Thanks for the help, frienderino.
Thanks. I'll take some more pics soon.
Thanks. Good luck getting a deal yourself!
Thanks. Is GeiL memory really that bad? This was a CyberpowerPC prebuilt he got from best buy, judging by the box I got it in. Cable management was also pretty bad, but when I undid it and did it again myself, it was barely an improvement. Is that 500W not enough, btw? I thought it'd be more than enough.
