We went with the i7-9700, ASRock B365 Pro4, Intel 660p M2.2280 NVMe 1TB, Scythe Mugen5 rev. B and Corsair Carbide 275R. The case was really nice to work in and everything fired right up. My son is installing all of his programs now.

Thanks Gil, I had not considered the 9700 until now. Another thing that I failed to consider is selling the 6500 and MB. That money could go to a better cooler or increasing SSD storage.

Not sure. I have had the same issue with my Gigabyte board when cpu light is on. Reseating the ram always fixed it.

Compatibility note: The motherboard M.2 slot #1 shares bandwidth with SATA 6.0 Gb/s ports. When the M.2 slot is populated, two SATA 6.0 Gb/s ports are disabled.
