I am guessing the ryzen 5 2400G has integrated graphics? Nice build too.

I am in the same boat as you. I went to school for IT and got an AAS degree in IT. I am looking to upgrade my computer to something that can run some VMs. I don't have a list for you, but I can tell you the VMs are mainly CPU and RAM dependent. I would say you want 16gb of memory and personally if it was my computer, I would buy a nice xeon chip.

Newegg has a service where they do that, it is an extra charge during the checkout process.

Little too late. My dad purchased mobo, cpu, gpu today from microcenter. anyway, I don't need gpu power, all I do is runescape, social media, and office tasks.

don't know for sure, but I have seen other builds where people get intel parts for cheap because of a relative working for Intel.

during reassembly, if you did not use an anti static wrist band, some static could have gone from your body to a component and fried one of the electrical components?

Forum Topic "PSU help! New PSU, PC wont boot past bios."

intel2012 4 Builds 2 points 37 months ago

if it is getting to POST, then the cables are all plugged in. try booting computer with one ram stick installed, maybe one or both of the ram sticks are bad. put a linux distro on a usb drive and boot to it and run a memory check or disk check. the 4690K has onboard graphics, try booting computer without the gtx 780 installed.

that is a great build, but i have a question. What do you do for a job to afford a computer that costs 5,000 dollars. if you are that loaded, can you pay off my tuition loans, and get my car new brakes? haha

holy moly that is a lot of SSDs/HDDs. not build though, I like your choice of parts.

Forum Topic "Cohesion? $1600 Build."

intel2012 4 Builds 2 points 41 months ago

I like how you have chosen the newest intel CPU and a big beefy air cooler. they should serve you well. You can definetly go cheaper on the SSD. I have an a-data 256gb ssd and I have had no issues with it, and it only cost me around 80 bucks USD. You will like windows 10. they bring back the start menu in some form.

Greenman01's Completed Build: Budget PC Build

intel2012 4 Builds 1 point 41 months ago

very good budget build. the z97 board allows for upgrade in the future, and a mid tower case that will fit and support SLI or Crossfired GPU's. you could also go water cooling too. good job on cable management considering you are using a semi-modular power supply.

ansen's Completed Build: Editing Workstation / Gaming Rig (Skylake Build)

intel2012 4 Builds 1 point 41 months ago

very nice choice of parts. You have the go-to intel core cpu and a gtx 970 GPU, and you can't forget the H440 for its amazing cable management. i am liking the red/black theme. I am more of a zebra theme though.

How is your back panel working. I had a Corsair 500R but had to buy a new case, because one of the screw holes for the cable management panel stripped from the bulging from my PSU cables?

Puncake's Completed Build: Hyperion Fury

intel2012 4 Builds 3 points 41 months ago

pretty good build. You seemed to have thought out what parts would be good for you. You definetly could of gone with a cheaper case, but I like the Enthoo Pro because it has excellent cable management. You will probably want to upgrade the power supply if you upgrade CPU / GPU for your schooling. If you use cpu intensive programs, getting a xeon cpu may help. They are the price of an i5 but minus the integrated graphics and are perfect for cpu intensive programs.

you will want to add a cpu cooler, as the i7 6600K does not come with one. The hyper 212 evo is the go-to air cooler for rigs these days, but for a higher overclock, a good air cooler could be the be quit dark rock pro3 or one of the big noctua air coolers.

i used dreamspark. it downloads in .ISO format. if your desktop or laptop had a dvd drive that can write dvd's too, then just burn the ISO to a cd. otherwise use a utility that converts ISO to a bootable USB drive. been doing this for years. works great.
