I named mine the "Magic Murder Box". It's an obscure reference to the "Magic Murder Bag" from the Venture Brothers TV show as well as referencing the fact that I play a lot of shooter games. :)

Overall, the temps look good (as would be expected with your CPU and cooler). As for the odd temp spike, I'd check what processes are running when it happens. It looks like something CPU intensive is getting triggered. Good Luck.

As Gilroar stated, it depends on the game and FPS you want with it. In general, the higher the resolution, the lower FPS you will get with a given GPU.

You may want to spend a few bucks to upgrade from the stock CPU cooler to a better one (could get something significantly better for under $50). Otherwise, looks solid to me. Good luck!

Comment reply on Forum Topic "Is G Sync / Free Sync worth it for competitive gaming?"

Short answer: Yes - it is good for competitive gaming. There was a rumor going around that frame sync (G-Sync, Free Sync) caused significant input lag and was bad for pro FPS gaming, etc., but it has been debunked.

An RTX 2080 Super paired with a 3700X will work VERY well for 1440p gaming. There are many options that won't cost $1000. Do you have a preference on size / width (wide vs ultra-wide)?

There is very little support for displays of this format (32x9), so keep that in mind.

I had this trouble building my new system this Summer (shortly after the 2080 Super came out). I ended up getting a regular RTX 2080 (but a really good one) on sale at a great price since the newer model had just come out. Considering the small difference in performance, that might be the way to go for you as well.

Comment reply on Forum Topic "ViewSonic 27", IPS, 1440p, $300 good deal?"

It is not a high-end panel, the price alone tells that. It isn't bad, but they obviously cut some corners and the quality control isn't very good (check the reviews). I'd call it low side of mid-tier. If you get lucky and get one that's in good shape, it should work out fine, but be prepared to return it since it may have some defects (seems to have ~15% DOA rate). I'd get it from Amazon, they are great about returns.

For ~$350, you can get a good quality 27" monitor. But first I must ask: What resolution and Hz are you aiming at? What GPU do you have?

If 1080 is good enough for you (and would look fine on a 24" display) then you can save money that way. However, that Samsung is decent, but I'd recommend this one (only slightly more expensive, but it is a better monitor with Display Port input to make full use of it's features): https://pcpartpicker.com/product/6ktQzy/msi-optix-mag241c-236-1920x1080-144-hz-monitor-optix-mag241c

Just because Amazon shows that price doesn't mean it's not an error. The very odd amount ($6,706.52) is an indicator that something is wrong.

144hz @ 1440p is very possible with your RTX 2070 at an acceptable frame rate for most games at basic (or in some cases high) quality settings, so getting a monitor in that range is a good idea. The big question is, what's your budget for it?

I agree, a 2070 Super would work very well for what he wants to play, and the B450 Tomahawk is an excellent inexpensive MB. That said, all this will end up costing a bit more than his original list.

4ft. is unusually far away for a monitor. I'd have it closer. As for ultrawide resolution, the typical these days is 3440 x 1440. That's great for gaming.

This is a pretty good design for the price. As for AAA games, that might be pushing it at bit, even at lower quality settings. What resolution do you plan to game at? If you go with 1080p, it will probably work OK for most games.

Comment reply on Forum Topic "can my pc run at 240hz?"

This actually depends on MANY MANY factors, the most significant of which are your GPU and just what games you want to get up to 240hz with. Are you doing competitive FPS?

Comment reply on Forum Topic "Dual Monitor issues"

This issue is most likely game specific. I play several games where the game is full screen on one monitor and I have other things on another monitor and I don't get the issue you are seeing. I'd look to see if there are posts about this on-line for the game in question (Apex). There might be a way to get around it. Good luck.

I have an MSI gaming X trio RTX 2080 myself and I am very happy with it. As Radox-0 says, it's the one to get if you go with an RTX 2080. Just what you need in a graphics card depends on the resolution, frame rate, and type of games that you typically play. You should also get a card that can fully drive the capabilities of the monitor that you have, without going far beyond that or you're not getting the benefits of the better card.

I have the GT version of that cooler: https://pcpartpicker.com/product/WDPzK8/deepcool-gammaxx-gt-295-cfm-cpu-cooler-gammaxx-gt and it works for my Ryzen 3900x, so the (cheaper) 400 model mark5916 recommends should work just fine for you.

I have the Dell U3415W, which is the older model of the U3419W. Yes, it doesn't have HDR. That said, I do like it very much. It's also only 60 htz, so mediocre for gaming, but for productivity it's been fantastic. So for video editing, it should work great.

You are not alone, see this article: https://linustechtips.com/main/topic/1047142-yay-amazon-boo-asus-rog-swift-pg279qz/

I'd go with a more reliable manufacturer, how about this (IPS): https://pcpartpicker.com/product/6XPgXL/lg-27gl850-b-270-2560x1440-144-hz-monitor-27gl850-b

Or this (VA): https://pcpartpicker.com/product/ZkF48d/msi-optix-mpg27cq-270-2560x1440-144-hz-monitor-optix-mpg27cq

In general: IPS has the best color quality, VA is second, but tends to have better response time .
