Mostly it's just that there's no other 24" monitors with built in speakers

Maybe, but you already stated that those speakers suck. May I ask why you don't just get some $20 computer speakers? They'll sound a lot better, trust me.

If you save up more and get a different monitor, wouldn't that be a lot more money out of your pocket in the long run? If you return this monitor, you could put that money toward another monitor that doesn't have issues...

You were downvoted twice for this? Really? I thought it was good advice. Have an upvote.

I'd buy a refurbished whole system...

I almost wonder if they just read that and stopped there to downvote.

Possibly. If it's only two people, I'd say you just got a bad one. If you can, I'd exchange it first. If the new monitor has the same problem, I'd just get a different model all together.

If that's the case, it's almost definitely the monitor itself. You could possibly find someone that knows how to fix it, but I'd just return it/exchange it.

It's very possible that the PSU is just bad. Do you have access to another PSU? Perhaps from a friend's computer? If so, see if you can borrow it for a while and see if it fixes the problem. If the problem persists, you'll know it's not the PSU.

Definitely try the RAM first, though. That's much easier to figure out. Also, before using a different PSU, still try resetting all the connections.

Have you already tried using a different cord (VGA, HDMI, etc)?

EDIT

I say this because I had an issue once when the connection wasn't good. Wiggling the cord fix the problem so all I really needed was to tighten the VGA cord.

That's random enough that I don't think it's your temps (though, it wouldn't hurt to check your temps).

Have you tried what I've suggested?

Can you be a little more specific? When you say "PC would randomly turn off," is it truly random or are there similar circumstances each time? I guess what I'm trying to ask is, what are you doing each time it turns off?

This sounds like a loose connection to me (this is beginning to sound like my solution to everything, but I promise it's not!). Have you already tried unplugging everything from the motherboard and plugging it all back in? Same goes for the RAM.

Are you getting any BSODs (blue screen of death)?

Comment reply on Forum Topic "Can you believe "Jedi knight" is a religion?"

  • 1 point

Normally I wouldn't respond to a "debate," but I guess I'll make an exception for you.

What is religion kylclrk?

Well, according to Dictionary.com:

Noun
a set of beliefs concerning the cause, nature, and purpose of the universe, especially when considered as the creation of a superhuman agency or agencies, usually involving devotional and ritual observances, and often containing a moral code governing the conduct of human affairs.

I think the key word here is beliefs. What I believe can be much different than what you believe. You might have some compelling arguments as to why I should believe what you believe, but you'll never be able to force me to believe anything.

a specific fundamental set of beliefs and practices generally agreed upon by a number of persons or sects: the Christian religion; the Buddhist religion.

Okay, another key word: practices. Each religion has their own set of "rules" that they practice. Some pray privately without the need to disturb others, while other religions knock on your door every Thursday while your at work (or school?) to try and get you to convert.

the body of persons adhering to a particular set of beliefs and practices: a world council of religions.

the life or state of a monk, nun, etc.: to enter religion.

Monk..? Or Jedi? ;)

the practice of religious beliefs; ritual observance of faith.

something one believes in and follows devotedly; a point or matter of ethics or conscience: to make a religion of fighting prejudice.

As you can see, there are a lot of things that make a religion.

Correct me if I'm wrong but the point of Jedi isn't to make sense.

Isn't it? To be honest, I have no idea what the point of the Jedi is. Maybe they're similar Buddhists and all they want is peace (seriously, those guys are CHILL). I think people really believe in the Force.

Here's a question: Is a cult not a religion? And if not, what's the difference? If there is a difference, would you classify these Jedi as a cult?

My next step would be to unplug all the other connections and plug them all back in. If that doesn't work, try a different PSU if you have access to one. Still doesn't work, try different RAM if you have access to some.

It's all about process of elimination...

Must not be available in USA, so that's why I wasn't seeing it. The HERO has more features, but honestly, if you don't know what they are, you're not going to use them. I doubt you'll even utilize all the features on the RANGER.

As FH100 said, it will depend on the output of the PC and the input of the monitor. But honestly, if your PC and monitor don't have the same connection, an adapter should be a simple fix. (Something like this)

Agreed - the Cooler Master TX3 was also my solution as I didn't have to remove the motherboard to install a backplate (because this cooler doesn't need a backplate). It's also worth mentioning that the TX3 can be mounted both ways on AMD platforms, contrary to popular belief.

Interesting; I was trying to find the Ranger on ASUS's website so I could bring up a comparison for you. Can't seem to find it anywhere, but I know it exists because I found it here on PCPP.

If I were you, I'd just get whichever one is cheaper as there's probably very little difference. Both are Z97 chipsets, both are standard ATX form factor, both appear to have the same I/O panel.

EDIT

By the way, the only RANGER that I was able to find was an FM2+ socket. It's called the "CROSSBLADE RANGER." Obviously not the same thing, but I thought it was worth mentioning that that's the only one I could find on ASUS's website. I even searched for the part number..

I've had to return a few things from Amazon and never had any issues. They even sent the new item before I sent the old one back to them (for an exchange that I did). This was especially nice because I didn't have to wait for them to receive it and then wait again for the shipping back to me.

It can run Witcher 3, but not at maximum settings. There's not much of an upgrade path on the FM2+ socket, unfortunately.

Still working on what you could get with a $70 OS.

Okay, this is going to sound crazy, but hear me out:

Who are we to say what religion is crazy & untruthful and which ones are legit & truthful? An atheist is going to think they're all just ridiculous while a Mormon is going to honestly believe he's going to own a planet full of virgins (or something like that).

Point is, what's crazy to you might make total sense to someone else. This is a huge reason that wars get started, honestly. Not that I'm a historian because I'm certainly not!
