Antec is reliable from experience, the HCP is top rated so I picked that. As for the WD Black, it was from a previous pc that I scavenged... I now have WD red 1tb(downloads) and a WD 4tb (most games) since I found out that WD black performance is negligible if you use an SSD as OS.
Sorry late reply as I haven't been on the website in a long while. Do you still need my input? I don't have any problem with any of my parts so far. Antec is very reliable from experience, not to mention the HCP is top-notched rated.
I liked the painted reference pcb GJ!
Deepcool RGB lighting strip?
I just got one. Monitor is good for productivity esp cause it's IPS. As for games, you might have to find or install software like 'flawless widescreen' to make 21:9 work great.
Sweet build man.
Awesome build. I'm looking forward on how to mess around with the 295x2 hose when mine arrive. I was searching around if anybody else had a 295x2 on an Air 540 case.
Clean build. +1
We're on the same boat. I ended up just moving into a new case though.
I'd say get the corsair Air series.
What program are you running to use that much memory?
Whats the best offer on that Samsung SSD?
WTS > Like-NEW R9 290x MSI Lightning. It's also being auctioned on eBay with reserved price of $315.
Dat mouse pad tho
I'm actually reconsidering about replacing the fans on my NH-D15 with round-framed noctua redux, the vomit-poop color on the stock is hideous.
I'm actually looking at Corsair Air 540 or 240. Has window, and dual chambered for easy cable management.
I'd always go for a windowed case. Showcase or not, at least I can see how I did well building my own pc. Showcase components are a bonus, not to mention being tidy and all with cable management.
As far as I know the stock fans that comes along with it are non-led.
I'm building a pc for my younger brother, currently we can fit push-pull configuration on the with 120mm on front, one 80mm on rear, one 120 on top. We're still trying to find out if we can put a 120 on the bottom.
I've seen the video from either, Tek Syndicate, Linus Tech Tips or JayzTwoCents about how the Titan X blows even the 980 Kingpin due to its 'bigger' architecture.
Are you planning on swapping the 980 Kingpin with the new Titan X?
Man, I wish my grandpa was cool as yours.
I was gonna go with this case for my lil bros build cause I liked the seamless glass window but I couldn't imagine it lasting long with my younger brothers clumsiness.
You're going places kiddo
I've actually just viewed some builds with the Air 240 here on pcpp and bunch of them have same or even longer GPU.
Some blogpost I've read.
That 270X is actually 308mm, and the 960 is 295mm. I think 300mm is just safe recommendation.
I'll check it today. I got a R9 290X Lightning that I can seat test along with the mobo.
Thanks. GPU says it don't fit but I've read and seen some blog post about even an inch longer GPU than the 960 that'll fit on the Corsair Air 240.
Don't forget to add at least a 120gb SSD as boot drive.
It depends on which game you will crank all settings to ultra. I know it gtx 970 hits it easily on Shadow of Mordor
Make sure you know what you're getting for the GTX 970. Read online about the false advertising claims that it got sued for. I got burned for it. As much as I want to keep my 970, I'm returning it not for its performance but for outright principle. They try to play cool when someone found out 4gb isn't 4gb thinking they'll get away with it (4 months.)
Good God, that's awesome!
That could work using a non conductor (pref tough plastic) to serve as a stiff rod for the cables to latch. Would it?
Just make sure you empty the air compressor every time you use it prior to cleaning the pc in order to get rid of possible moisture build up inside the tank.
I'm in the process of setting up mine as well. As far I have seen, Bitfenix Alchemy led are the brightest but can't be adjusted, I opt in for NZXT sleeved led instead cause you can adjust its brightness. Also, what kind of case are you wanting to get? Check out Corsairs 760T.
Could be more decent if the cables are tucked away on the back for better airflow. Also, are the fans on the radiator sitting right? It looked like it's pushing down hot air downward into the case instead of out.
Sorry no banana for scale
Cable management is killing your airflow. How's your Temps with load?
I see you put in a pci fan, I put one myself but withou the led. Any extra airflow helps. Awesome color combo ftw
I might get the same gpu if they'll release a r9 300x2.
I actually felt betrayed with the ad. Though I wouldn't return the two 970s I have cause it's still a good card for the price. But I'm considering AMD on next build.
I don't think it's a hardware problem with vram issue with the gtx 970. I've read nvidia claims it was a miscommunication with market and it's engineers. 4gb is still present but only 3.5 is immediately available and the last .5gb ram is accessible but 1/7 speed. Its not an issue for gtx980 cause by design it's already available and not limited.
How's the airflow on that thing? I like the swirling wires lol.
Oh wow just about same as mine, GPU, case, monitor, kb and mouse. Except I went for a x99 chipset and aircooling instead of h2o. HF!
Looked like a good potential for a showcase entry build aside from what others mentioned before.
HF for first build!
I usually use the rpm adjustment if the mobo allows it than having the fan controls hooked up to the casing adjuster. That's just one less hardware to fail.
I think Noctua's the best aircooling solution out there but also expensive esp the industrial ppc version. Yup I'm installing a noctua 120SP on the bottom of my 760T.
I guess you don't have to switch to SP fans up front if you have a bottom fan installed.
Nice. Have you tried using a SP fan on the front though? I know I have DS Aerocool on mine but I'm testing a Noctua SP fan this week to see which one pumps air better. Before I do that though, I'm considering putting a 120SP fan on the bottom. I know I have a hotpocket inbetween the GPUs.
