It did work right out of the box for me, but you never know which bios version your board will have. So it is always smart to update them asap. Good luck!

You are correct. I think I look at star ratings different than you. I use star ratings for how the overall performance of that hard drive. Not the performance of that hard drive compared to others in its class. Does that make sense? I am using it completely wrong but that is how i use it.

The aftermarket cooler was a gift to him from me. I just wanted to make sure everything would stay cool. Also the PSU has already been replaced. I cant remember which one we upgraded to though. I think it was a corsair 400w semi modular. also given as a gift.

great build! i would go with the vg248qe if i were you. Then just downsample you 4k or 2k res. the refresh rate and response time as well as the gsync makes the difference.

I got it because he will most likely never upgrade this thing, due to lack of knowledge of such things. With this in mind i wanted to get him something to last a while. I will need to help him when it comes time to get some more storage however. along with the 250 hdd he will also be receiving a 160 hdd and a 128 ssd. So with his level of gaming this will last him quite a while. thanks for the comment.

Remember this is a budget build and my buddy wanted better components over looks. I do not think you would want to do LEDs in this though because there is no side panel. Of course if this was my build I would have taken my dremel to this case and modded the crap out of it. thanks for the comment

Simple, I applied about three water drops size amounts directly on the center of the CPU and then placed the cooler on it. I will have to get back to you on actual temps, I took it apart so my buddy could have the experience of putting it together.

The temps will be acceptable though I know that for sure. I had the 6100 CPU with a stock cooler and was able to get it to 4.2Ghz. So I expect similar to better results with this 120mm cooler. hope this helps.

Thanks man. Yeah I know the PSU is not a looker but I need to stay in budget. I chose this budget one because I have used this same PSU for over 4 years with no issues in a previous build. So this should get my m8 off the ground at least.

Yeah I think my buddy will be okay with stock speeds. Plus the cooling in this system is below average I would say.
