I dont think that only 8gb of ram is the limiting factor for this build... This is a great low budget build, but it is a low budget build and has its limitations.

Old hardware still has its place in budget builds, especially when there is no need for a top tier processor for gaming. Its still a good processor when you can get 80-120 fps in games.

Corsair in general doesn't make the most sturdy cases. Like I have the 300r and it is on the flimsy side. But hey your putting a pc inside a case, its not like its going anywhere.

Comment reply on hollingc's Completed Build: Little Papa - HTPC

Depends on the use scenario. With dx12 games coming in the future you would want an 83xx processor over an i3 for gaming. But an htpc needs to have as little heat as possible while still giving adequate performance so the i3 is the best option for this

I would go hunting for a cheap r9 270 on ebay instead of getting the 250x. I put the 250x in my brother's rig and it works fine for what he does. But I wouldn't think it could run gta 5 at 1080p very well.

Edit: just looked at monitor your using and its 1440 by 900, this card suits your needs just fine.

the t4 and 212 evo are about the same height, the tx3 would work just fine. I would use the tx3, but a 212 evo would work just fine if the budget allows.

Comment reply on Forum Topic "I NEED HELP $340 Budget"

great partslist, but it is only under budget with the rebates. If the budget is this low I'm guessing that is the absolute max amount of money he can spend on this. I would take this partslist and use it as a guideline and try to search for cheap prices on ebay or craigslist.
