Ebay. These cpus are a few years old now. Many people have been pulling them out of OEM systems and selling on Ebay. Lowest I found right now is $36 but there were some for $30 when I built
This was right before rakuten started taking tax for new York. But true for microcenter
Yeah the case had a fan installed on top. I moved it to the front. I flipped b it around after I took the pic
Someone had it on ebay for $70 with $12 shipping. He had a best offer on it. I offered $65 and he accepted.
If you troll around ebay you can find people willing to make a deal. I have found much better deals on "best offer" than on auction.
Noise is okay. It's 3 fans so guy can hear it. I did not bother changing the fan curve. Dust is too early to tell
The fans came pre installed. I think the case is out of stock at newegg right now. I use the Aurora software from asus. The case also comes with an rgb controller if your mobo doesn't do rgb
A. It's called profit. I don't have to sell for the same price that I bought. If you can find the same deals more power to you.
B. My time to find deals, send in mail in rebates, build the PC, install windows, drivers ect. And troubleshoot is worth money. If you want to do those things yourself more power to you.
C. Deal hunting is an art. I enjoy it. Many people don't. It takes hours to find the best deals. I don't have to sell for what I paid.
D. Im not ripping anybody off. If people can get a complete system from me cheaper than from somewhere else they are not getting ripped off, they are getting a deal. A few PC flippers in my area have messaged me asking me to raise my price.
E. Learn how the economy works
Definitely. I did. Make sure you can get the mobo discount.
Not a huge amount. If the difference is $10 - $15 I would take the 2600. In microcenter the 1600 was $100 and the 2600 was $160
Thanks. I put it up for $600 I would like to get $550
I let my kid play fortnite on it to test it out. GPU temp mostly stayed in the 60s with fans at 1200 to 1500rpm. I saw it go into the 70s a couple of times and fans ramped up to 2200 and then dropped back down into 60s. There is a lot of space and air in this case though so YMMV
Seems fine. There is sapphire and then there is everything else. Sapphire warranties don't transfer though, so for used I like msi
I have plenty of sata cables. I put 2 in the motherboard box. I saved all the packaging for the buyer.
Try overclocking the ram before you replace it. It seems to run at 1.2v stock. Try 1.3 and see how high you can get it before you replace
So far I've only had the chance to do the time spy benchmark 3250. And play a little fortnite. 60 to 80 fps
The HP PC, ssd, and PSU I got on craigslist. The extra stick of ram, GPU and hard drive I got on Ebay
It's a oem hp motherboard that came with the system
Ok. I'm having some driver issues, but I think I figured it out. I will hopefully have benchmarks soon
It's a 470 my mistake. Made the change.
I haven't had a chance to benchmark yet
Not great. I need a better graphics card
I did say act fast. Honestly it lasted longer than I thought it would. It wss available for about 10 hours
New GPUs are a rip off right now. Gt 1030 is just ok. Try to find a used gtx 950 or 960 on Craigslist or letgo
I didn't have a can of air on hand. Lol. I wasn't going to go crazy on a $20 project
I there is a crash and crypto currency prices are low at the same time that the next generation of cards ship, then there may be little competition for those new cards. I would expect a high MSRP at release, but if demand is low you will start to see sales and rebates
Not sure if you are still shopping or not but the ryzen 2400g is due to be released on Feb 12th. Release price will be $169. It will have Vega graphics integrated that will be almost on par with the gt 1030. You Will save on the cpu and you won't need agpu
Can it play crysis?
(Sorry had to)
Just do a search on ebay for "lga 775 lot". You will get results from 2 pieces to a crap ton
How many do you need?
Hard to find benchmarks comparing the two since the I3 is double the price, but it looks like your right. The 860k loses at least 5fps to the pentium so I'm guessing the i3 will be an even bigger gap.
Still the 860 + r9 380 will beat a ps4 and save some money. It all depends on how close to $500 op wants to stick to
I remember seeing a review on it. Can't remember where now. Decent performance, low quality caps similar to the CX. I suggested it because it was comparable to the Cx and semi modular and $20 cheaper. Non modular is a pain in itx builds.
If $500 is a hard cap then he needs to cut somewhere. If it's not here then it has to be on the CPU. The 860k will only lose 4-5 fps to the I3. Or he can get a GTX950 for $120.
OP, how hard is that $500 max?
I would get the 500b myself but I think he wants modular/semi. The CX500 is not that great either.
You can save some money on your psu.
You can get a cheaper case. If you are willing to go micro atx.
I think the powercolor 380 is on sale now. Sapphire seems to make the best amd cards but if you are trying to get down to 500 you are going to have to cut somewhere.
Do you have a microcenter near you?
The 9000 series is basically an overclocked 8000 series. Way overpriced and requires water cooling. Nobody recommends them. Also the performance gain from a phenom x6 is going to be minimal.
You can switch to intel or wait for Zen. Either way you will need a new motherboard. Better save your money for that
Do you live near a microcenter? They have the best prices on processor/mobo combinations. You can get a 8320e for $90 with a mobo for another $35.
Or a I3 6100 for $110 plus a $30 mobo.
Where does it say gtx960?
Thanks. I had to buy piece by piece as deals came around.
If you have a microcenter near you you can get an athlon 5350 for $40 with a free motherboard. For emails and word processing should be just fine
This guy did
Nice build. Be careful though. You are very close to the $2000 limit. If prices change your build could be disqualified.
Can you edit your guide once submitted?
Then I realized that z170I may not count. Can we get a confirmation on the itx mobo? If it doesn't count can I delete the guide and resubmit?

You can get a system with a I5 250 for around $190 or a I5 3470 for around $260
That's what I'm thinking. Looking at this for 130 after rebate.
I guess the extra$50 over the 360 or extra $20 over the 370 is worth it.
I'm playing at 720 right now but I'd like to buy 1080 monitor with a new build. Playing mostly older games (older system). I'd like to play newer games but nothing specific in mind
