Potential Issues / Incompatibilities

  • Warning! Some Intel H110 chipset motherboards may need a BIOS update prior to using Kaby Lake-S CPUs. Upgrading the BIOS may require a different CPU that is supported by older BIOS revisions.
  • Note:ASRock - H110M-HDS Micro ATX LGA1151 Motherboard has an onboard USB 3.0 header, but the Rosewill - FBM-01 MicroATX Mini Tower Case does not have front panel USB 3.0 ports.
  • Note:Some physical dimension restrictions cannot (yet) be automatically checked, such as cpu cooler / RAM clearance with modules using tall heat spreaders.

I would take the same motherboard from the build you took inspiration from, for a broader upgrade path.

The H110M board isn't exactly compatible. The board would most likely need a BIOS update, which is less possible for some people than others. Also, out of my own experience, id swallow the $10 and upgrade to a 7200rpm hdd

A laptop 5400 that I used to use felt much snappier than the 7200 I'm using right now. Although, it is a ridiculously loud (no other drive I've ever owned has been this bad with noise, it's like a coffee grinder) SATA I drive that I have.
