I figured out what went wrong and it turns out it wasn't my psu, motherboard or SSD. The pump in my nzxt cooler failed and my cpu would hit 100 degrees then the computer would shut off to avoid frying it. Im replacing it with an air cooler and hopefully it will last longer than 2 years.

Yes it is an excellent overclocker. overclocked from 3.3 ghz to a stable 4.2 with an nzxt x62. Stays below 60 degrees

My pc used to crash pretty frequently due to improper shut downs (ie power going out). I reformatted my hard drive (which wiped it all) and reinstalled windows and i haven't had problems since.

Comment reply on Forum Topic "So how did you get on PC gaming?"

my friend got me into tf2 while i had a ****** 300 dollar laptop. while browsing glorious steam i came across a few free games i wanted to try. naturally they ran like **** on my laptop. my friend had a pc with an i5 and a 750 ti and i tried it and fell in love. i was already saving for an xbox one at the time but i decided to go down the path of pc instead.

ever tried planetside 2? its a free mmo fps on steam. finding public platoons and squads is very easy and the community is really nice. its a really fun game no matter your play style, you can go lone wolf and follow your faction on a trail of chaos or you can join a platoon and organize coordinated assaults and suprise attacks.

if it is a 1080p monitor then a 1060 will be fine as long as you lower a few settings (msaa, shadows, flora, etc)

Comment reply on Forum Topic "Planetside 2 Newbie Question"

  • coming from someone with over 400 hours of planetside 2 expierience:
    1. Dont use controllers unless you want to die over and over again
    1. get some of the 1 cert perks for all the classes
    1. the quickest way to get certs and level up is by playing medic or engineer and healing/repairing
    1. heavy assault is the most novice class and is easy to learn (although i started as a medic main and now main light assault)
    1. keep shadows on low or off. You really cant tell a difference and you get so much more fps
    1. save your first 1,000 certs for a good gun for your favorite class (skip NS guns unless you are paying with DBC and play all factions)
    1. playing with experienced squads is a good way to learn the game and get some bonus points
    1. there is a massive learning curve, you WILL die alot in your first few hours but you will get the hang of things pretty quickly. Dont be discouraged

Comment reply on Forum Topic "What would you do with $30 million?"

  • 1 point

I would buy a ~$5 million penthouse in san Francisco, and Range Rover Holland & Holland. I would have an office with and pc with high spec peripherals. It would always have the best intel extreme processor and geforce or radeon graphics card(s). Whenever the new stuff comes out i would get them and then give my old parts to my friends. All my friends will have high spec PCs with 1 year - 6 month old parts. ALSO i would get that super fast google fiber internet and I would invest a good chunk in order to maintain a 6 figure income.

Comment reply on Forum Topic "Single 1080 or 2 rx480s in crossfire?"

  • 1 point

I would go for the single 1080 because 2 video cards has some major drawbacks such as heat, crappy xfire optimization and some games dont even support xfire or sli.
