I was getting kind of bored and decided to make a project that would require some digging and ultimately decided that I wanted to build a pc. My laptop is about 7 years old and is just super slow, knowing that I could upgrade some parts in that, it was worth while for me to build a computer. I have some knowledge of computers, but believe me, you learn A TON when picking parts!

Hope this can help some new builders figure out a set up for their new rig as well! I used the pc part sales reddit page quite a bit to find some good deals!

Read great things about M.2 drives, figured this should be the route to go!

Video Card

XFX RX-57XL8MFGR Radeon RX 5700 8 GB Video Card

Graphics card works well. It is a little noisy at times under load, but honestly this shouldn't bother anyone. I would recommend to anyone that can get a good deal on this card!

Case

Got a great deal on this, works like a charm! Cords were quite stiff, but made them work.

how did you use the 3600 with that motherboard i thought you had to do some kind of bios update are whatever sorry im about to build my first pc and im curious how you did it

you only need to do a bios update if your motherboard cant support the cpu straight out of the box, with a b450m motherboard you wont need to do a bios update for most cpus whereas a non-b450m motherboard will require a seperate bios update if the cpu is a medium to high level cpu

Did plenty of research before I purchased. All you have to do is go to MSI's website and pick the motherboard you have. This will then show the latest BIOS updates, picked the most recent one to download. Moved the file onto a flash drive and you have to rename it MSI.ROM, this will change the format to be able to do the flash. I read to make sure you have a USB 16GB or less (it's not a big file) and in FAT32 format (not sure if this is accurate, but mine was in this criteria.) Plug the USB into the motherboard with the slot closest to the button (it is marked BIOS.) All you need to have plugged into the power supply is the 24 pin cable for power and CPU cable (do not need to have CPU in or anything else for that matter.) Power on, and click the BIOS button on the top of the motherboard, and it will start flashing for about a few minutes. First time I did it, the light turned off, but did not reset the motherboard (Every video I watched did, and you can tell because it has a light on it and can hear it click on and off.) So I tried a different USB, and it did exactly what it needed to do. I just booted it up last night when my GPU came in and plugged it into my TV for now, and it should recognize the new CPU, in my case it did, thankfully...

Hope this helps. I was very weary of this process, but if I can do it, I'm sure you could do the same!

What kind of temps are you getting with what looks like all fans bringing in air? Have you moved the ram to the recommended slots?

The fan in the back and top are pushing the air out, while the two in front are sucking in air. Temps are good, and I'm not even running fans at full power. When they kick on it only takes a few seconds for it to cool the system down again. I have really only played Iracing so far which is very CPU based and I think I saw temps in the 70's at the very most. I may upgrade the cooler later on, but for now, this works for me. Yes, after this picture I was looking at it and changed it over. Thanks!
